I am surprised my local Best Buy still is able to locate and put on display Pioneer plasma models that were out of stock for months

I stopped in my local Best Buy on Friday to see if they still had the PRO-101FD on display like they did a week or two ago. I thought for sure Best Buy would be completely out of Pioneer plasmas by now. Well my local Best Buy finally sold the PRO-101FD display model within the last week or so. To my surprise instead of being out of Pioneer displays, Best Buy somehow found a PRO-141FD and had it on display. So I went in to look at the PRO-101FD floor model and instead the PRO-141FD was on display in the same place the PRO-101FD was a week or two ago. Best Buy did not have a price on the PRO-141FD floor model and there was no one around in the Magnolia section on Friday to ask how much the floor model was.

Best Buy keeps finding PRO-141FD’s, PRO-101FD’s, and other 2008 model Pioneer’s from time to time.

EBAY and/or Amazon prices on the PRO-101FD are currently around $3,100-$4,500 for a new or used unit. Gone are the days when one could find a new one for around $2,475. Best Buy was clearing out of new PRO-101FD’s for $1,999.86 and floor models for around $1,799.

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-PRO-10...9641649&sr=1-2

The PRO-141FD is selling for around $10,000 on Amazon currently.

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-PRO-14...9641626&sr=1-1

I thought by now I would not be seeing anymore Pioneer displays at all at my local Best Buy. Are other people around the USA still seeing Pioneer floor models on display at their local Best Buy with a Magnolia section or is it just me??

Well, you are talking about very expensive, practically unadvertised HDTVs. I don't think I've ever seen a single TV ad for these Pioneer displays. Brands like Panasonic, Samsung, etc. have major exposure and media saturation, but the Kuros are like the Holy Grail: you hear about them from word of mouth and you must search it out and find it for yourself. There are probably still several dealers holding the 101/141 monitors at $3000/$7000 that will soon sell them off to Best Buy and the like.

I picked up 2 different Pioneer 101fd demo displays@ BB,had to return both of them because of burn in damage and a strange red glow with higher ,worse black levels, I believe BB may have messed with the service menu RGB settings.A shame to ruin the best flat panel ever made.

I saw a Pioneer PRO-151FD at my local Best Buy today

I walked into my local Best Buy Magnolia section today and ask the Best Buy sells rep if they had any new Pioneer plasmas left. My local Best Buy was completely out of stock on PRO-141FD’s and PRO-101FD’s including the floor models and in theory will not be getting anymore in. To my surprise the only Pioneer display my local Best Buy had left was a Pioneer PRO-151FD floor model only. The PRO-151FD list price in 2008 was $6,500 and it comes with the speakers, built in TV tuner, and table top stand. Best Buy was clearing the PRO-151FD floor model out for only $3,599.99.

In theory once the PRO-151FD is sold my local Best Buy will not be getting anymore Pioneer displays back in stock.

It would be beneficial if you told us what location of your Best Buy.

I was wondering which is the best HDMI Input to use for HD CATV and bluray? I currently have my Comcast HD cable box HDMI wire plugged into the Kuro's HDMI Input 7 on the side of the tv. I have my Pio Elite BDP-23FD bd player's HDMI wire plugged into the Kuro's HDMI Input 4.

Also, how should I clean the frame bezel and remove streaks and what cleaning solution to use? I used Pledge multi-surface dust spray that's for electronics with a cloth and then ran back over it with a tissue but I still see some streaks but not as much as before.

I use the same kinda material that one uses to buff/clean sunglasses etc. No liquid of any kind touches my Kuro. Something along the following link...

Just checking in, never realized there was a thread for this. Hurray Pioneers! How are all the owners holding up? Did you never look back, or are you sorta jealous of the 3D TVs?

Personally, 3D can go jump off a bridge for all I care. I love my Kuro!

Before I go 3-D I want a 3-D display that beats the Pioneer picture in 2-D mode for black level and overall picture quality. Currently all the 3-D displays do not even match the Pioneer picture quality in 2-D mode and their 3-D mode adds 3:2 pulldown judder for each eye. Still enjoying the Pioneer which is still King of 2-D 1080P flat panel picture quality even though the display is a 2008 model. Also I would like to see at least 100 3-D Blu-ray movies for rent or purchase before even considering going 3-D.

They should be the best display out there for the heavy price tag they charged.

Burger King Whopper or top sirloin steak?

One will always pay a premium for quality. The sad part is that not enough consumers cared about plasma quality and now Pioneer is out of the game where it raised the bar. We all lose.

Like i said before, the pioneer kuro is already 3D!

Im not one of those people that hates on 3D, it's wonderful. I got a chance to see the green hornet in 3D this past october at NY comic con, it showed off some nice 3D effects. But it's not something i would trade my kuro for, no F'n way.

The kuros 2D performance is beyond reproach. Everthing is perfect. Color, resolution, sharpness, detail, and lets not forget those blacks.

I mentioned this awhile back, but if you want to see the kuros 3Dness one of the movies to check out is speed racer. The movies outstanding color reproduction and detail combined with the kuros oh so amazing black levels makes the image jump off the screen! It's a an amazing sight. Really.

Like gremal said, nobody cared for this type of peformance and now pioneers finito. And were set back years of PQ performance. The kuros tech may be from 2008 but really its up to date until someone passes its overall PQ. The tech is years ahead of anything else.

3D? nice. Kuro? Better.

Default Pioneer Cracked Screen

Hey guys, I am the proud new owner of a pioneer pdp-6010fd only problem is the set has a crack. I bought it as is and got a great price. Can anyone help me out on my options for getting it repaired? Is this something I can do on my own? Do I have to get a service technician to do it? How much are replacement parts? Considering the price, I'd be fine just dealing with it, but what are my options? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Where did you buy it from? Your suppose to get a new one if the set came like that.

Price to repair the glass is $2200 last time i checked with a pioneer rep.

EDIT- The glass is cracked or the TV itself?
