Goblet of Fire problems - Page 2 - Blu-ray Forum

Hey lokus, I am having the exact same problem as you.

When I put in Goblet of Fire last night in my PS3 all it did was spin and spin. It would not register as a disc and I had to shut down the PS3 just to eject it. I tried about 3 times and had the same result each time. All of the other movies worked fine with no problem so I think it is def a problem with that disc and not a PS# or firmware issue.

I am going to take mine back to a different store and hope it works. It sounds like it might be a small percentage of discs, so I am keeping my fingers crossed!!

Works fine for me with the PS3 (also bought mine from Best Buy).

The Reaping did this for me.. I just cleaned the bottom with water/paper towel and it played. BD smudge easily.

seems like i got the boxset BD of HP: GOF in my individual case....

All the other 4 individual disc have pictures of diff characters on the disc art

It is becoming obvious that WB needs to euthanize some of the monkeys they have working in the packing department.

the question would be, if the boxset hd dvd went to the BD boxset, and the boxset BD went to the individual BD, then where the hell are my individual release with disc art -.-

Well, my guess is that for every individual and boxed set for Harry Potter for both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, there is an appropriate disc that should go with the correct format and package. It's just that those discs didn't necessarily end up in the package that they were meant to go in.

Maybe a thread should be started on some kind of format neutral web forum where people who bought any of the versions on either Hi-Def format can post what mistaken discs they got, and people can then trade each other to get the discs that they were supposed to get. It will probably be easier, faster, and more efficient than going through WB to get this corrected.

They probably borrowed the ones that were screwing up in their shipping department.

My guess - they end up on Ebay. Just a guess though.

lol thats funny... Id have cried if it had been a hd-dvd disk in the blu-ray case... cant have those things anywhere near a blu case

I have already returned one GOF for a replacement (that is also defective) and both had that disc art. I am trying a different Best Buy today. I'll report back if my disc art is different.

I got the same thing, direct from Warner at that, but the movie works fine so I don't mind.

I did my exchange today and will try the disc out as soon as I get home. I also called WB customer service and they basically tried to dodge the whole issue, but the agent did admit that there were reports of defective GOB discs. I kept pressing them, but the agent just kept reiterating that it had to be exchanged at the store or I need to email their corporate HQ. If you want to get in touch with their uncustomer service, the number is 800-364-6928. I am going to be furious if this one doesn't play!!

Mine has that disc art and it is fine so I don't think that's the issue.

I picked up my copy of Harry Potter last night at my local Best Buy it was the last box set they had. After coming into work today I read hear that some of the disks were switched with the HD-DVD version so I went to my car and got my copy out and low and behold Goblet was HD-DVD. I went back to Best Buy and they told me it was discontinued already but I did convince them to switch out my disk for one of the individual disks. The disk that came from the single box had the same disk art as the one from my box set except Blu-Ray logo. When I get home I will check to see if they all play in my PS3 and let everyone know. But for anyone looking to get the box set I would do it now because they are all discontinued already you may have to buy Goblet in the single form though.

I got my 3rd disc from my exchange and tested it in the stores. It worked. The disc art had the character photo on it and not the plain brown disc art as shown in dalamchops post. Needless to say everything works now.
