Please unthink this thought right now. Just smack yourself and get it out of your head, then go sit in the corner and think about what you said...

As for the PQ, its the best PQ I have ever seen on a live action movie. Its out of this world. Virtually every scene in that movie is breathtaking.

[Show spoiler]Planet Hulk

Many many people will disagree with me but I dare to say this is the best (although not my favorite which is Suerman/Batman Apocalypse) DC/Marvel movie ever made.
I really mean it. This movie is very bold in its ideas and changes to Hulk character, the animation is top notch and the story really good.

Movie - 5/5
PQ - 4.5/5
AQ - 5/5

Yojimbo and Sanjuro
[Show spoiler]blu rays are on their way now. I blind bought sanjuro based on how much I liked Yojimbo.
The Thin Red Line, I havent watched it yet but based off what you are saying it seems to have very good cinematography, and the visuals must be nice. Im not a 3-D basher but im not into 3-D. It makes my head hurt...

Yojimbo and Sanjuro... You should of bought them together. Sanjuro isnt as good a Yojimbo imo. Its more of the funny version....

New Rating - 4.25/5
It is a fun movie but its more like a 1 and done deal for me. I almost bought this during black friday at Best Buy but i picked up Predators instead. 9.99

True. The reaction was more of a combination of you dropping the rating and also the fact that you dropped it down by .25.

I'm guessing it will also receive a drop from the third spot on your Top 10 list for this year then too.

Insomnia

Director: Christopher Nolan
Writers: Hillary Seitz and Nikolaj Frobenius
Mains: Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank

"A Good Cop cant sleep because a piece of the puzzle is missing and a Bad Cop cant because of his conscience wont let him."

Plot (IMDb): Two Los Angeles homicide detectives are dispatched to a northern town where the sun doesn't set to investigate the methodical murder of a local teen.

My Take: Insomnia was a very interesting movie. The cast was great and the story itself was good. Im a big fan of Christopher Nolan but i dont think my review is gonna be bias at all. My motto is a good movie is a good movie. With that said i thought Insomnia was a good "different" flick. I've never seen a movie about guilt in this direction. Its all about the viewer as well, Nolan demonstrates this same quality or moral beliefs in his famous movie Memento. So here you will be challenged and rather you think person "A" is right or wrong. The acting was pretty good until the ending. It got GREAT real fast. Al Pacino let loose and showed you the power of guilt like no other. I enjoyed the movie, direction and the plot. It wasn't grand like i was expecting it to be but i was very filling and had me engaged throughout the entire movie.

Conclusion: If you're a fan of Nolan or Mystery flicks then this is right up your alley. Bewared this movie is a little different than is competitors: Machinist etc. It takes a different route, more of a moral route. This is why i love Christopher Nolan, he challenges a persons moral beliefs thats why his movies hold so much value. Great movie but not grand. I was hoping for a little more but it was still satisfying. Recommended.

Yep, Insomnia is a good story.

The think I like most about Nolan is that he treats his audience with respect. No clumsy exposition and he doesn't dumb anything down.

End Of Times:

Interestingly movies that I watch most are not considered great movies by any means. (american psycho, Evenet Horizon, In Hell, etc.))
End of times is one of them.

I love anything associated with God/Devil combat like The Omen etc...
What about this movie, weirdly I find myself watching this flick at least once in every month or two.
Its a really fan flick and the actor for the Devil role is perfect and really scary.
Overall, I enjoy this movie immensly.
Have to add this to my blu collection.

If you are Swarznegger fan, this is a must see movie for you.

I checked out Once because I was placing a UK order, it was cheap, and Pro-B was plugging it.

Money well spent.

Here's how you'll know if you'll like it:

Do you like music? No, let me rephrase that. Does music possess you, move you, excite you and make you feel like nothing else? Andy Dufresne in Shawshank understood. If the answer is yes, you will get this film.

If you like your music packaged and your performers manufactured and given an image to make their product sell, this might not be for you.

Once is about a guy (we never learn his name) who busks on the streets of Dublin when he's not helping his dad repair vacuum cleaners. By day, he plays familiar songs. People give him money because they recognize the songs. By night, he plays his own material. It possesses him. He lives and breathes it. He's a conduit for this powerful expression of emotion.

He's not an actor, he's a musician (The Frames) and had a role in The Commitments.

While playing one of the songs at night, a girl (we never learn her name either) sees him performing and gives him 10c. She asks if he'll repair her vacuum cleaner.

She's not an actress either. She's a musician from the Czech Republic. The two have a real-life relationship.

A friendship is formed. She can play classical piano. They play a song together. Will their relationship become a romantic one, or is music and friendship the only thing they will share?

She helps him. He helps her. Stuff happens. Wonderful stuff.

The ending
[Show spoiler]isn't conventional.

This film captures what it's like to be a musician. If you meet the first description I mentioned above, you could easily love this film. There are so many memorable scenes. I have been thinking about it for a week now.

It won an Oscar for best song, but don't think of it as a musical. It's not Hollywood. It's not Music & Lyrics. This is real.

It's shot on a digital camera so don't expect amazing PQ. It's decent enough though. Maybe 4/5. It doesn't matter. You won't care.

Overall 5/5 (a near-perfect story)
Thanks Steve. Your review has prompted me to give it a shot.

I thought you snipered him because he rated it too high.

My Take: Wow. 12 Angry Men hit me like a freight train carrying 10 ton elephants. This movie has had the biggest single impact in my whole movie viewing hobby. Where do i start? First off this movie hit so hard with me because of my personality. Those who know me know that im a very argumentative person but most of my arguments are based of facts. In addition im always that guy who dares to be little different when the majority says yes or no. (not all the time though). So this felt more like a personal movie than anything and if i could pick out a single character in the film that represents me it would be DAVIS.

On with the movie itself. This movie brings allot of things to the table about a persons own morals, prejudice and beliefs. 12 Angry Men displays these different colors. It also makes you think about jury's in a different way or better yet gives you a great way of thinking if you get called for jury duty. 12 men in one room the entire time, emotion driven and character driven. Just off based of their conviction choice you learn a little about each member of the jury's life. This has to be the same motivation or weakness a prosecutor looks for in jury members. (As shown in The Devil's Advocate) I loved every second of this film and its probably the BEST movie i've ever seen.

Conclusion: 12 Angry Men is arguably the BEST MOVIE EVER MADE. If you have any interest and movie viewing this is a Must See! It has instantly made it to my TOP 5 films. Character Driven, emotional and times but most of all a very argumentative movie. Hats off the director and actors for putting together a great movie like this in ONE room. (well actually 2 but who's counting) I loved it loved it loved it.

MUST SEE/MUST OWN

I'm glad it had such an impact on you. I've seen it twice on TCM and will snap it up when it's released on Blu-ray. Lumet has been involved in some great films.

It's interesting that the film only deals with the discussion in the room. There's no need for set up.

As has been discussed, Lumet made some interesting choices with the camera angles to increase the feeling of claustrophobia the longer they are in the room.

It gets 5/5 from me now after I initially gave it 4.5.

Yeah he did. Very creative, especially at the end.
[Show spoiler]When the loud dead beat dad was cornered, the angles he took where amazing. It really felt like he was cornered.
