"Bridge to Terabithia" 2/5 (Ah, maybe I'm being too cruel on this one. How does 3/5 sound? I guess it's not bad, just don't want to see it again)

"The Usual Suspects" 2/5 (didn't capture my attention at all. Maybe another viewing is required.)

"A Fish Called Wanda" 2.5/5 (Well, it has its moments. Just not as many as I originally hoped for).

Seriously though, I didn't care for "Blair Witch" at all. Didn't like the documentary-style cameramanship. Didn't care enough about the story (probably would have back in the day when it was supposedly real-life ). Above all, I hated the characters. Between them getting lost and then spending half the movie screaming their heads off at each other, I found them too unreasonable and unlikable. Ugh.

Sorry, it's just not to my taste at this time.

Well, to be fair, "The Matrix" has a fine cast of characters, just not mind-blowing psychologically deep. They're likable (heck, I like 'em), but in the same fashion as "Star Wars" or "LOTR" or "Avatar" or any of those movies, it's more about them moving through the story and going through the actions than a full-blown character exploration.

I suppose you could say they're 2-dimensional.

But you've already made your choice. Now you have to understand the reasons for it.

The Proposal

[Show spoiler]This is a pretty complex and mind bending movie. Oh wait, sorry, no its not

If you've seen a single romantic comedy then you know the basic outline of about 90% of them. Just about all of them, no matter which ones or what the differences in the actual stories are, hit on a few key plot points along the way and this one is no exception. So there's no sense in going over that any farther.

I'm not particularly a fan of romantic comedies. I don't watch them that often for that reason, but when I do watch them the majority fall around 3/5 or lower on average with some exceptions. This one being one of those.

Now its not that the movie itself is insanely better than most romantic comedy; though, in my opinion, it is quite a bit better than all of them that I've seen (which is admittedly not really THAT many since, like I said, its not a genre I'm particularly fond of as a whole).

It's the two leads in this one that really elevates it for me.

Ryan Reynolds is one of the funniest actors I have ever seen. He's got incredible comic timing and ability, I can bust out laughing at almost anything he says because of his delivery. He has some serious moments in this movie for me but the top two are when he
[Show spoiler]sings It Takes Two in that high pitched voice
and during the credits when the guy asks him the question about the sides of the bed

Besides the laughs though, he does a good job with the other material he has in the film.

Without him I'd probably give the movie a 3.75/5, still better than most romantic comedies on my score list, but it would be behind the Bearcat approved 500 Days of Summer which I gave a 4/5.

Bullock isn't as strong as he is at comedy in my opinion, but she does pretty good herself and works very well with him for some laughs and also handles her non-comedy material well in the movie.

There's some other laughs from the supporting cast but only a few.

I wouldn't buy the movie; that would be pushing it
But when I see it on an HD channel or my friends want to watch it, I'm usually up for it

Rating - 4.25/5
I enjoyed this with the wife quite a bit.

My favorite part is the "Sweet Jesus" line when he gets the coffee all on his shirt.

Fair enough.

My hate list (if I had an assembled one) would be hilarious because it would contain mostly films that are widely considered 5 star classics. I'd catch so much grief if I posted it here.

Bearcat "decided" it isnt interesting, and therefore, it isnt.

My question is, how does one know until one sees it.

Same goes for Diesel and Black Swan. There is a story beyond the medium being used for delivery.

Thats like not seeing Triangle because one doesnt enjoy "Boating" films.

Christopher Nolan's Success.

These are the films in oder of impact and overall cleverness because this is what Nolan is best for.

Memento 5/5
Inception 5/5
The Dark Knight 5/5
The Prestige 4.5/5
Insomnia 4.5/5 ( I dont know if its a 4/5 though..... Tough call now that some days have passed)
Batman Begins 4/5
Following ?? (Still haven't seen it yet but its making its way up my queue)

In conclusion Christopher Nolan is one of the BEST hollywood Directors BY FAR. Consistent and very clever. He's my second favorite Director right behind Kubrick.

My disinterest isn't because its a movie with ballet though, its because the trailer didn't make the film look remotely interesting to me on any level.

A lot of people were over it.

Thats my point Santa Diesel.

You are not tickled by the .25% of the film that you are familiar with. What if the other 99.75% of the film is mind bogglingly good? You may be missing out because of a preconceived notion due to a lackluster trailer.

1. i didn't know anything about Triangle when i bought it. and even afterwards i have no idea how anyone would think Triangle is about boating when all the posters (and i'm sure the trailers) have sack-lady with an axe running around. i think people "decided" it was a horror movie and when it turned out not to be so much, then they disliked it because they were told otherwise

2. i guess i should say it doesn't LOOK interesting. and after reading the plot summary / synopsis it still isn't interesting to me. a guy who invades dreams for a living? okay. kind of neat, but nothing i wish to see or spend 2.5 hours with.

usually i'm open to anything type of film, especially when it comes recommended on here because i like expanding what i've seen. but i'm not gonna do that so much anymore, because i'm sick of wasting my time and money on stuff that i have no interest in originally

I said it doesn't look interesting to me, I didn't say its a bad movie or anything. That's totally different things.

It may well be great...but I wouldn't find out anytime soon.

If a movie doesn't look good to me then I have no reason to spend my money on viewing it

Call be the anti Disturb3d. I don't watch movies because they are critically acclaimed or hyped by the fans, I watch them because they interest me in some shape or form, either from the trailer, from reading you guys talking about it, my friends talking about it, the development of the film, etc. etc.

i still don't understand or follow this.

maybe because i don't pay attention to films as they come out and because i feel most people have terrible taste in film so when they "hype" up a film, that doesn't stay with me because people hype so many damn things, the wording gets watered down and becomes extremely meaningless. to me.

so i don't have any "put the hype to the test" because i don't believe in hype. well, i believe in people blabbering about something constantly, but it doesn't effect my judgment of it.

if a film doesn't look interesting to me, then i'm no longer gonna bother. i don't care if it wins awards or whatnot. i have zero interest in seeing The Hurt Locker, so even though it won "best picture" i will probably never see it.

the reason i saw Avatar was because of the visuals. i didn't know how much money it made or where it was on imdb until after i watched it and everyone on here was either hating or loving it.

and by the way, i've been meaning to slightly mock you for something:

i believe you were going off about how "great" Avatar is and one of your defenses was because it was like, #3 on imdb's top 250 list. have you seen where it is now? #133 last time i checked. and we all tol you not to use that because in time it would fall, but you didn't listen
