I tried a game, sd dvd, and a crap load of other bd's....still no worky....

your optic might be damaged. Did you over-use it? I've heard that the optic can melt. (I'm serious) - although never heard such case on PS3s

This happened to me, about two weeks after purchasing my PS3. Had to send it to sony, and they send me a replacement.
