I like Kristen Stewart, sue me. I also like Shrek the Third quite a bit, come to the realization recently that while the Toy Stories are probably the better movies, I like the Shreks more. I guess they're just more fun to watch and they make me laugh a lot more too.

haha ironic. i think the Shrek series is generic and at times very dull and uninteresting (the basic premise alone isn't something i care for, so that doesn't help) meanwhile Toy Story is one of the better trilogies / animated films around imo.

To be fair I'm not much of a car guy and I think Paul Walker and Vin Diesel are poor actors. I like brainless action as much as the next guy, I've just never liked that franchise. Seen about 40% of 1 and about 5% of 2. I really do love Despicable Me, can't wait to see it for the second time ever after work.

technically i can't say what is my favorite because i'm starting with a 'clean slate' and pretending i haven't seen any films before when i start watching and reviewing them again (hopefully tomorrow with the arrival of The Town ) but i know The Bourne trilogy is high up on my list, as well now as Toy Story.

with that being said, there are a lot of trilogies i haven't ever seen, and a lot that no longer apply because there's more than three films.

BLASPHEMY! i'm not a car guy either. and i think you know that i'm not a big action fan, but The Fast and the Furious franchise is one that i've quickly come to love and really enjoy since i just saw the films all this year. can't wait to own them some day soon

The best trilogy ever is Lord of the Rings, second best would be the OT of SW, third best would be the PT, fourth best would be Indiana Jones and 5th best would be Back to the Future. Yes I am a dork, I mean I even like stuff such as Harry Potter and Twilight. I used to think SW was the be-all, end-all of franchises but LoTR has changed all of that recently.

- i count the Star Wars films as a full franchise, not individual trilogies. just me though.

- Indiana Jones has four films, so no matter how bad the fourth film may be (wouldn't know, haven't seen any of them) it's not a trilogy just because it's hated.

- Back to the Future qualifies.

why is liking the Harry Potter films 'dork-like'? they're fun, legitimate films.

Paul Walker is actually a pretty good actor and better than he's givin credit for. Just watch Running Scared and u will see what I mean. That film is so underrated and unwatched but its a great film! Got Em!!

The Harry Potters would be a lot better if they had stayed closer to the books. Also always thought the first 2 were poor books and movies, Harry Potter was really only on its game 3-5 for me, 6 was okay. Hoping the last 2 films will be good, probably won't see them until I can see both in theatres, will be great fun trying to keep myself from buying the next one till both halves are in theatres.

That's probably the most sensible thing I've seen you say in a while.

All those films you mentioned are cool though.

Default Fish Tank

Fish Tank is a coming of age story of a 15 year old girl living a desolate life in a small British town. It demonstrates the struggles and discoveries of adolescence. The indie-style cinematography was excellent. Although Mia has no ordinary life, the movie feels so real and is consequently difficult to watch at times. She feels trapped with her family and appears deprived from freedom throughout the film. She is faced with a careless and alcoholic mother, her mother's boyfriend who makes himself more than comfortable with Mia, and her little sister, a victim of society and her immediate surroundings. Is Mia the culprit of this life, succumbing to her desires? Or has she unwillingly become a direct product of her upbringing?

Katie Jarvis is a wonderful young actress. She is very convincing as the rebellious teen striving for somewhere she belongs, and gives a compelling performance.
[Show spoiler]Her hesitation to act while waiting for the child to surface sent shivers down my spine.
Michael Fassbender is simply a marvelous actor. I hope to see more roles from him in the future.

I had a few problems with this film though. Some of the decisions Mia makes in the film simply do not make much sense to me, regardless of how hard they are to watch.
[Show spoiler]She abandons her little sister in the end, also a victim of this upbringing. Her reaction to Connor's daughter is to ... piss on his carpet (though she somehow does it so convincingly that it makes the reaction look natural).
Additionally, she is not that good at dancing. I realize that the point is not her ability to dance but rather that she is turning to it as a mode of expression and discovery, but I'm not sure whether her interest in it is regardless of her skills. She wasn't bad, but I just wasn't impressed at any one point. Either way, the dancing scenes were certainly poetic.

I saw this one on a whim last night because it was on the Sundance channel at my friend's place, but I'm glad I did.

3.5/5

they seem to always be on tv, but i hate watching movies when they air on cable (stuff gets cut out, commercials, language editing) so i've waited and not watched them on tv (i know Diesel did the other day and i made sure i didn't turn to that channel

Those are the best ones for me as well. Not sure the movies really ever had a chance compared to the books. My main question is: What happened to all the Quiditch? It's a huge part of the books and could be a great way to include more action and break up all the teenie bopper stuff, but nooooooooo!!!!

Oh yeah, you're "ignoring" me aren't you?

OK, I'll call Toy Story 3 and Tangled a tie for 2nd, and here is why.

TS3 wins for emotion and story. Tangled wins for outright ROMP and nonstop fun and adventure.

They are all solid fives stars from me. None of them are just barely making the 5 grade, all three do everything right for me.
I figured you'd have a hard time deciding where to put it, but that sounds fair.

We'll see where it lands for me once I watch it next year on Blu-ray, but I have little doubt it will at least be a 5/5 like both Toy Story 3 and How to Train Your Dragon were for me.

Yeah, i'm really surprised "Tangled" is getting so much love around here. The previews left me with a super duper "meh/." Then again, i would never have thought "HTTYD" would give me such a feeling. I'll probably Netflix 'em. Or in other words: "Do the Squidpuppet."

"Hey Blurayers have you heard the news? Ya gotta do the Squidpuppet to avoid the blues!!"

when i first saw previews for Tangled i really had no interest in seeing it, simply because it looked like yet ANOTHER standard Disney princess film, but since it's getting pretty rave reviews, i'll have to remember to check it out when it drops on blu-ray as well.
