You forgot the tidbit about the Planet Earth comment and all the "new" HD-DVd owners that don't have it yet.

To bad the same can be said for Blu, trailing right behind is our Planet Earth.

Neutral? Indeed!

I'd like to point out once again that the TF numbers on this site are different from the original numbers..

is there any reason for this?....

anybody know?

not to mention a little thing called Bourne next week. so when its close expect engadget to trumpet HP on HD DVD since they conveniently left out a HUGE title for HD DVD to draw a misleading potter comparison for next week.

I'm gonna get him one of these days...

TF wasn't as close as it originally seemed...

even if it is only 4% higher...it's still wasn't 51/49

It really looks like a one hit wonder for HD DVD.

After a strong start (for a documentary) Planet Earth was barely moving 2k disks a week for months until recently. Something happened about 3-4 weeks ago and it started to sell >10k (my estimate) a week.

With 160,000 for Pirates you get:

1) Pirates 160,000
2) Superbad 59,936

3) Planet Earth 19,808
4) Spiderman 3 16,816
5) Transformers 11.984
6) Live Free or Die Hard 11,840
7) Planet Earth 10,832
8) Pirates: Dead Man's Chest 10,720
9) Ratatouille 10,704
10) 300 8,576
Assuming the 160k figure for PotC3, at almost 60k in week1, Superbad is the best performing pure non-action comedy HDM so far, by an overwhelming margin. (a grey area : PotCs are sort of light hearted action comedies).

Got another funny one for you over at avs. In the HD-DVD sales figure thread, they are touting that the HD-DVD version of Planet Earth outsold BD version 65:35. And they are using this to show that HD-DVD is picking up steam.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Bourne sells 80k on HD-DVD. That being said, I still think Potter outsells on Blu-ray, and even if every other top 10 Blu-ray title sells 10k, then Blu still wins the week.

I've gotten so fed up with this BS it is time to start playing their game. HD-DVD still has DVD in the title. How many people think that HD-DVD is playable on a DVD player? How many other movies to the HD-DVD people have to buy? Honestly, I want Planet Earth on Bl-ray, but it is expensive when I am buying at least two movies a week.

Once again, the goal posts have been moved back by the HD-DVD supporters. A whole year's worth of data doesn't count. Just the one week they are hoping to win. Sounds like Transformers week all over again.
Thank you for saving me the effort. I was about to make the same exact post. Since all of the data all year shows blu-ray dominance that means it doesn't count... BUT NEXT WEEK is the big time!

Now let me add an item from the prior week's story:

"Just when Blu-ray fans thought they'd run away with it, the red camp strikes back with a 58/42 (1.38:1) split"

Tell me again how that equates to a victory. "Dude, we struck back at you with a 60:40 loss. Ah, take that!"

So far, the HD DVD titles that crossed 100k are : 300, TF, PE(estimate). No other title is close.

The BD titles that definitely crossed 100k are : 300, CR, Spidey3, DH4, PotC3, PotC2 (estimate), PE (maybe), PotC1 (possibly).

Using : last known definitive volume from October 21st.

----

Edit : titles that potentially could cross 100k by end of 2007 :

Bourne on HD, HP on HD (maybe)
HP on BD (maybe), Simpson Movie (longshot). [Superbad is a very long shot, it would have to do 40k total in two weeks)

Did I miss anything else?

that's their mentality...

"win 1 week"..."outsell by 1 movie"..1...

it will take a whole lot more than 1 movie or 1 win in a year to even be in the same league as Blu-ray...

Funny also how they highlight the PE comparison but neglect the '300' comparison.

So, on one hand you disagree with me and on the other your saying that there have been a couple exceptions? A exception is just that. I am saying that Blu and Red are going toe to toe this week and we shall see how this battle will turn out. We are not looking at one movie either. You are talking a series and box set, so more options for the customers.
