Tempted by this but as it has no Mortimer Young intro it's a failure. His intro is wonderful and has several swipes at the people who financed and distributed the film. Fans must see that version and it's on the HDDVD (still a great transfer) and the last DVD:



I have that version but it's also released in a keepcase and has new extras too.

Great film, but as I still have a functioning HDDVD setup I'll hold off for now to see what Universal bring us.

Mind, that's not a separate file it's actually added to the film pre-titles.

Picked this up! Couldn't help myself and it's worth it for the Italian language trailer alone -It's called "Il Grande Lebowsky".

CG has trimmed the front of the film even more than Universal did so we lose the PolyGram intro and a bit of the music completely.

The picture quality is fine and I'd say maybe a bit poorer than the HDDVD. Not going to be an eay transfer for anyone I guess so we'll have to see what Universal do with the Bllu-ray. The extras are all poorly done and look like a port from a poorly done DVD.



Some interesting info on the Region! Initially playing this on my US Sony BDPS-1 I got the usual "piss off" message but took a few seconds to have a think about it as I've noticed a partial workaround with PAL discs before. On the Sony I pressed "stop" and then digit 1 (or 0 then 1) and press enter -and it goes straight to title 1 (the film). The menu also works but the extras don't due to being PAL. I then tried lots of other locked B content from Optimum like The Man Who Fell To Earth -and I can get past the "locked" screen too.

So, it looks like the BDP-S1 works with any disc as you can press "stop". Most other players you can't I've noticed.

Well....you made the right choice.
The US edition has a nice layer of DNR.
