HOLD THE MUSIC, folks.
The correct answer is: it depends. Some TVs handle RGB input better. Others (and I would hazard a guess and say a significant fraction of newer HDTVs) handle Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr more gracefully. Take a look at the effect on this user's display in a discussion over at AVS: He had terrible banding due to RGB input, which pretty much vanished when he changed to Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...=936406&page=5 Doing a generic recommendation for RGB is a VERY bad idea, as you can see if you peruse that thread (with pictorial proof from myself and others). |
