Default Dad sells son's video game online for more than $9000

Damn, anyone want to sell GH 3 for the Wii?

The man, a school teacher, who kept his identity private, said he sold the coveted video game to punish his son and discourage him from smoking dope

"I am still considering getting him a game for his Nintendo. Maybe something like Barbie as the Island Princess or Dancing with the Stars ... I know he will just love them," the father said, tongue-in-cheek.

What they don't tell you is the transaction will never actually take place.

Whomever was silly enough to bid that game into the statosphere is 100% not silly enough to actually follow through and pay for it.

"sold to an Australian who plunked down 9,100 dollars for it."

I guess they've got money to burn. Rich people....go figure.

Because there's a thread about it and people keep posting replies asking things like "Why is this news?" which keeps it alive.

As a parent of a young child, this story is considered "real news" by my spouse and I.

A father who actually takes a stand with parental authority to prove a point is worthy of lots of attention.

It sure beats what todays youth consider news, i.e., what celeb isn't wearing panties this week, which celeb is in rehab, made up stories with zero truth about the Commander and Chief of this great nation, etc..

Kudos to the dad who stood up to actually be a father figure.

If you don't like it don't comment. I put it in off topic for a reason and for a laugh.

If he wants to punish his son for smoking dope, he should just kick his ass. Old school parenting works every time.

so being a father figure is taking your kids stuff and selling it on the net?...

if he wanted to teach his son a lesson more power to him but im not this is the most constructive way he could have done it.

Depends on whether or not that was the son's most prized possession.

Or maybe the dad wrote in the description why he was selling it and someone (with plenty of money to spare) thought it was a good reason to spend $9000.

His sons stuff?

Yes, I'm guessing here but I'm guessing his son probably only buys his own dope, DAD buys everything else that kid knows. It was dads to sell.

That was my very first thought.

A person of high morals and high value may have stepped in to make a point with the seller.

There could have even been some collusion between the seller and the winning bidder just to make a point (not joint).

What point does paying $8930 too much make exactly?

If you don't have a lot of money, you'll never know how it feels to not care about cost to help a cause.

ok, let me re-phrase... what "cause" was he supporting by overpaying?

I'm all for punishing your kids when they misbehave, and I have no problem with the guy selling his kids game to prove a point to the kid, but I don't see how the overpayment adds anything to it.

You don't have to re-phrase it.

The point has been made that you are still stuck on $$$$$$.

When you are loaded with $, its not an issue to you. You just pay it and smile and never look back.

Btw, who knows if this transaction was even completed. It could all have been a ruse by the dad.
