I'll get rid it of it one of these days..

using the htpc and a 19inch Samsung SynchMaster 940BW, The Cutting Edge looks nice from far away and seems to age well. just my 2 cents

Default Overboard PQ

Picked this up from Target along with Four Weddings and a Funeral. PQ in Overboard is very strange. More than grainy, it reminded me of some blown up smaller video with a lot of noise. Color is kind of washed out as well but that may be how the movie is originally. However, Im not dissapointed, I found it worth to upgrade this film in any way. There is nothing like enjoying good old Goldie Hawn in HD. I hope we get to see Private Benjamin or other Goldie Hawn titles in the near future.

Just wanted to comment on PQ for those interested.

Nice. I want to get this. Was just waiting on how the PQ was.

What are the audio specs? And are there any special features? Just wondering.

I would imagne titles like this would be of very little improvement over DVD. Some titles should not be bought just because they have been transfered to a Blu-ray disc. Unless of course you do not own the DVD.

Yes OVERBOARD is very very grainy at times. If you switch back to the old VHS tapes and maybe even the DVD - (I myself used to watch it from VHS a billion times growing up) most scenes differ from time to time. It is for sure due to the film stock and lighting used. The BLU has a very healthy disc size and I never remembered the fonts for the opening credits looking so defined.

I do own the WS laserdisc version I may put it in the player and check out the image differences for grain. (HD always shows off grain more so for sure)

I would have to give the image between a 4 and a 4.5 IMO

I stopped by the West Hollywood store on way to work, picked up FOUR WEDDINGS. They only have 2 copies on each title and they were not on a end cap, they were mixed in with the other titles.

picked up A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS, A FEW DOLLARS MORE, and THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN this morning--

they are all out of the floor and tagged at $9.99

this was nice since I already have GOOD THE BAD AND THE UGLY so I didn't have to double dip and it also saved me on THE MAGNIFENT SEVEN since it was the only title I wanted from the set--

Picked up The Cutting Edge for $10. They had about three each of the exclusives mixed in with the other catalog titles.

Any idea what "The Cutting Edge Reflections from the Ice" actually is? A making-of doc?

Kinda disappointing that it's only 2.0, but in the end it probably wouldn't really matter much since it would be nearly all front heavy anyways.

some of them are in the regular blu ray sections like for a few dollars more and than others are in the great save event area back in seasonal (or in front my store its in the back) if they arent out yet just ask someone to look in the backroom since they may not have reset their movies yet they should really soon if they haven't already.

yeah, my wife works at Target and this was just set yesterday in her store, I would assume that most all Targets will have these titles out by the end of the week---

the 3 titles I bought were in the regular section of movies....

haven't seen it yet but will report back after I do see it. I think its just them remembering the shoots and the film and things.

EDIT: finally watched the reflections, it was interesting. some parts of it had making of footage and other parts were D.B Sweeny and Moira Kelly remembering what happened during filming.

Thanks again. Sounds like something I'd be interested in watching. At least it's not completely barebones.

Yep, it's the same retrospective featurette from the SE DVD and it's short (11 min.) but sweet. Make sure you watch through the feauturette credits. I'm really happy with the BD of this, especially for the price. The Gold Edition DVD was an abomination. Probably the only DVD I know that went from an anamorphic transfer on the original release to a non-anamorphic one on the SE. And to top it off the runtime was actually 5 min shorter since for some unknown reason they used a sped-up, chipmunk-speaking PAL transfer. WTF.
