If these reports are false then this could be a pre-release thread! Anyway, looking forward to the release, it was a great film and will look very nice in HD
I remember quite a few DVD's having a Thursday release, we've had Sunday releases on Boxing Day. It would be nice if they mixed it up and confused people.

Tbh, I'm not really bothered what day it is, it's all the same anyway - I just assumed it was going to be a monday I think it will be in March/April but nothing definite yet it seems, I think we might find out in January with box art ect...

I dont think I'll bother getting either Deathly Hallows Part 1 or Part 2 when they're released seperately.
Im most probably going to wait for a complete Harry Potter boxset, and then sell my current years 1-6 one.

Though I might be tempted to get Deathly Hallows 1/2 seperately if they got UK SteelBook releases.

Personally, I think it should be released in 2 different versions.
1 version would be the first part of the last story. Another version, would be the whole story, which would clock the whole movie at just over 4 hours long, lol.

7 books. Let's keep with tradition and have 7 movies, and not 8, lol.

Amazon France have a release date April 14th complete with collectors edition of the films showing close ups of the main characters. However this is only for the DVD versions at this time but the BD release may be similar.

That looks great! They have Harry, Ron, Hermione & Dobby too.

For Part 2 they should have Dumbledore, Snape, Hagrid, Bellatrix & Draco/Lucius/Sirius?

But for 25 euros and DVDs...and it's all the same movie too.

This is the first time I'm tempted into buying an HP DVD/Blu-Ray on its first day of release, cause its the best HP movie yet. However I'm holding out for the a box-set with the Ultimate Edition's. Hope it comes out by Christmas.

Is Deathly Hallows: Part 1 really that great?

I havent seen it, but I did not really enjoy Half Blood Prince at all, yet I loved all the other Harry Potter's before that one.

So is DH: Part 1 better than HBP?

I would say it's the best of them all; really epic, captures the spirit of the books well.

Are you a fan/read all the books before watching the movies?

The complaints by some have been that it drags in parts, but I thought everything was necessary and the 'drag' bits were beautiful character moments for the trio.

Those DVD SBs are killing me.

Yes, it's brilliant. As a person who 'grow up' reading Harry Potter i've always left the cinema feeling slightly disappointed (now I view the books/films as different for various cinematic reasons) but David Yates did a fantastic job with DH and the 'dragging' parts which got negative feedback (largely from the press!) was due to the trio being on the run for the best part of 6 months in the book, so of course it would have to 'drag' a little but I thought it was very well done with character development in abundance, something we've hardly seen in the previous 6. The Locket sequence and The Tale of the Three Brothers are the best scenes i've ever seen in a Potter movie.

Anyway, the SE DVD version are VERY tempting, they look great. I really, really hope they bring the same to the Blu version

Can't wait for Part 2!

I personally want a double box set edition of part 1 and 2 on BR together !!

or be great to see it knitted together as one loooong film.

I dont see this happening though - I think the attention of any boxset will be on a super duper box of all 8.

have 1-5 on dvd and 6 on BR. do not intend to rebuy the others on BR, even though I have to admit HBP looks fantastic on BR.

DH Part One, is by far, the best one yet. Even if you're not a Harry Potter fan (like myself) you would enjoy it. Although I have to stress it would help if you knew the backstories beforehand. The so called 'dragging' parts were brilliant, and offered great insight into the characters. The only gripe I had, as well as with the whole movie series, is the relationship between Harry and Hermione. In DH Part One this gripe reached a whole new level since the two of them share a dance when Ron has abandoned them and at the end of the scene there is a moment where you would think they would become intimate. The scene was not in the book and I've always hated the fact that Ron Weasley has been pushed to the background, I think the character is the most relatable, not to mention Rupert Grint is the best actor of the whole trio.
