Can you imagine if there was no HD-DVD?
How much a BR Player would cost? Way more than 300 I can guarantee that!
There would be no BOGOs(booo), movies would be pricey to buy.

For all the complaining that is done against HD DVD, you have to thank it I think at this point. No HD DVD, no competition, no consumer perks!

Well, pricing at the entry level may be changing but the upper end of the market will remain pricey. A Denon or a Marantz player is still going to be in the thousands of dollars. Yes, the war is helping prices short term, but the only way to see true price reduction across the board for software & hardware is mass adoption of a single format so production costs go down.
