Best overall picture quality, deepest black levels, the most natural life like image. If you can find a Pioneer Kuro then congratulations. I like my Pioneer Elite Kuro Pro and I hope it lasts for many many years to come!

I know it ranks the highest among users, but my concern is the fact it has been played in the store and i don't know exact how many hours. The price is so tempting though. If it can last me 5 years (which is how long i will have guaranee from the store). Also on the lx5090 i saw ''Hd ready'' but on the tag it said ''Full Hd Kuro''. Were some kuro's non full hd?

Pounds and Euros... aren't the same.

I think I am willing to sell my Pioneer if someone offered me the right price...

I wish I bought the 60"... ugh...

I say go for it. $1900 is a sweet deal. Heck I'd go for it and I have a Kuro Elite already. Does the store offer a 30 day return policy?

It all depends, there are so many factors that can determine the life span of anything.

I think we're looking at a good ten years, someone did the math at AVSF and it came out to be around decade. I could however be completely off!

60,000 hours would equal 8 hours a day for 20.5 years. Even if you left it on and never turned it off, it would still last 6.8 years

Default Pioneer Elite Pro-151FD-60" Plasma TV selling question

First, let me apologize for reviving an old thread, but as a new member I can’t create one. This was sufficiently relative....

So I have had the pleasure of owning the Elite Kuro for almost 2 years now. I think its about 2 months shy of that right now. (which also means its got about 2 more months of warranty left)

So I have a couple of questions:
1. How reliable are these? I've had no issues to date, and have even done the firmware upgrade twice now (they have released two since I bought it new).
2. I'm kind of an 'excessive' is 'just about right' kind of guy in must things I buy. 700+hp Viper, Nissan GTR as family car, Jeep SRT8 as my wifes family car. Same with computers, electronics, etc. I usually end up buying 'more then I can use.' I bought the Kuro because my buddy said it was the best in 2008. And of course I wanted the biggest size I could get so I went with the 60 incher. My understanding is this TV is STILL the best, after almost 2 years?
3. I just bought 2 days ago the Samsung 63 inch Plasma 3D TV for our bedroom, the 8000 series. I've been impressed with it, but Sadly I have to admit, I dont see the difference between it and the Elite Kuro. Don't get me wrong, I was BLOWN AWAY when I first got my Elite Kuro. Have I just gotten complacent? Is it really still truly better then this newest TV I got?
4. I must admit, the 3d stuff is kind of fun/cool. But is it just a Fad that will be something I only do once in a blue moon, and therefore the Kuro should be kept, because its the 'real tv' ? I guess I'm on the fence about just selling the Kuro, and getting a 2nd Samsung 8000 series or w/e else is coming out soon for the 'TV Room'
5. If I sold it (its mint condition), what could I expect to get for it? Would it be best to sell it on ebay? (I usually dump all of my electronics on ebay, its painless for me, been doing it for 10 years, and I have 100% feedback, so Ebay is simple enough for me, but I sure as hell wouldnt want to SHIP the tv).

Thanks for any help. I know this is my first post, but I've had no need to engage this forum before, I appeciate the help.

Jon (Chicago, IL)

The Kuro sets are very reliable. You obviously have some moolah, so get an ISF-certified calibrator to come by and make sure you're getting the most out of your Kuro, they can probably calibrate the Sammy while they're there as well.

The Kuro Elite is the king, don't sell it, you don't need TWO 3D TV's unless the 2nd one is better than the Kuro and to be honest for 2D there isn't another set out there yet that can match the Kuro's overall performance.

Yeah, my buddy cut and pasted me the cnet settings, and thats all I have ever used. Is there really that much more to be gained from a professional Calibration? What could be so different about mine that the Cnet specs could be bested? Is there really that much varience within the TVs ?

Yes, I agree that thanks to this blog: http://barnezy.com/2011/01/08/the-gr...made-the-kuro/ I've found it difficult to bring myself to sell it. Its been one of my electronic pride and joys for a while. But I'm always wanting the newest technology, becuase I am used to new tech = better tech. But in this very rare case, 2008 is better then 2010-2011. I kind of feel like the TV is wasted on me... but maybe I can get over that

Is that a list of people that I could call that can setup the tv? How much does that usually run?

I agree, get an ISF calibration before you sell that bad boy.

Using settings posted on the internet can get your TV in the Ballpark...but who likes sitting in the bleachers?! (well maybe at wrigley its pretty fun! )

You haven't sat in the bleachers at Yankee stadium (sec 203 is where it's at). Best seats in the house.

Wrigley is fun even in the bleachers

I've never had a tv calibrated, what kind of 'cost' am I looking at? There is no point in having the Samsung done, since its only 2 days old, right? It has to break in first?

each ISF tech is different, but you're probably looking into the $300-$500 range.

+1...had the pleasure of having Chad perform the calibration on my SAM 63 and the difference was night and day...the neighbors thought i had purchased another TV....crazy to think it made that much difference.... but well worth the price...very professional and knowledgable.....highly recommend....

There are Tvs out there that can beat the KURO for picture detail among other things. But it still hasnt been matched for black levels or motion handling.

What exactly do you mean by "picture detail" and other things? Please elaborate.
