Aliens

(It's a Home Theater must. The first movie may be a better movie but aliens is very fun.)

My understanding is that Aliens was intentionally made to look gritty & grainy by Cameron. I also recall reading somewhere that he shot the film in the less wide 1.85:1 aspect ratio to create a more claustrophobic atmosphere and that he used inferior film stock for some reason.
I understand that he now regrets some of these "artistic" choices

Alien is a great film.

But Aliens is one of my favorite damn films ever. Though i suspect Alien might be able to get more benefit from HD given the way Aliens was shot.

Alien 3 is ok, I'd still get it. Alien 4 is a piece of garbage...but...I'm a sucker, and I'd STILL get it.

The question is really will they end up releasing a box set along with the single releases, and will that box set also contain the predator movies, and/or the AVP movies.
Anyways I would just pick up the single releases of the first two Alien movies, plus the two Predator movies. I'll skip the first AVP but the second looks good.

I'd have to agree with everyone that said AlienS, as far as the movie itself (It's fun), but I think Alien is the better film and would probably polish up better. So I voted for Alien.

Tough choice between #1 and # 2. Both are great, but the first one sends chills up the spin! The second one is just plain kick arse.

My hope is that they are all released next year as separate releases. However, the original "Alien," Ridley Scott's masterpiece, will celebrate its 30th Anniversary in 2009. So my bet is late in the year or early 2009.

There is absolutely no comparison between the original and James Cameron's over-the-top "Aliens." Though "Aliens" is an enjoyable action flick, it contains laughable stereotypes, sophmoric dialog and some pretty bad performances. It can't hold a candle to the original's brilliance.

To each his own.

The original Ridley Scott Alien... The first and the best. Much more suspense, better dialogue. The atmosphere was claustrophobic and the way that the hunters turned into the hunted was brilliantly done.

Aliens was OK but no suspense, it was just a pretty good shoot-em-up.

Alien is the best movie of the 4. I like Aliens but the whole hyper sleep thing is so unrealistic to me... To be asleep for over 50 years that's just crazy and to not age any come on...

That's why we love it. It's not Shakespeare after all.

I'am pretty sure it's Cryo Sleep, in Cryo you don't age.. or you age ultra ultra slowly... But i guess they choose a easier term for the public ..
