I don't think we can assume anything with David Vaughn not giving out the numbers. He might just be busy or was told to keep things on the 'down low'.

59:41 is my prediction for Blu this week. It's low for Blu but I really like the Bourne Trilogy so I have confidence it is going to move a few units.

What a laugh, it's probably higher than 58:42 then... probably 64:36. So now he calls the TOTAL numbers pathetic... go figure. Sorry, I don't see him as turning around and "seeing the light", he is still a red ant.

Hopefully Hollywood Reporter will still be reporting the top-10 lists, so at least any sudden surges in secondary titles can still be tracked. Perhaps HMM will introduce numberless top-10s too.

I think they should do both: the current top 10 overal HDM and top 5 in each category as well as a YTD top 10 overall HDM and a YTD top 5 in each category. They should not replace one with the other. If they are to have only one, then it should remain the way it is now: weekly Top Lists.
In any case, if it's the HD DUD's that have been pushing for this, what weight will anyone give them past this upcoming CES

Not out yet, nor has Vaughn said anything, but the best guess is 58:42.

Do non-shipped orders count towards the sales figures?

LOTS of members haven't found HP boxes in blu at the stores, and many of us have orders for Blade Runner Box set that are still back-ordered at Amazon. Does Amazon submit those orders with the "purchase" totals figures or only discs that have been shipped/credit-cards charged?

The latter. It's not "sold" until they get your money.

For that matter how do early ships count? Wherehouse.com shipped my Bladerunner set on Saturday and my HP box the Friday before release.

Could this be possibly why Universal did not release individual numbers for the HD DVD of Bourne and why they included it in with their DVD sales?

I fully understand all that and still stand by my statement. For one thing if HD DVD won one week nobody would care except for about 100 people here and 500 people at AVS. I think people here pat themselves on the backs too much. Just because a one week win would cause a ruckus here and at AVS means nothing to most people.

Still, if you think HD DVD won this week, your kidding yourself. Sorry thats how I feel. Your entitled to your opinion but in my opinion a small drop in price from the previous low for HD DVD will not win a damn thing. Not to mention HD DVD is not the only one to increase its install base so that point is really moot. If a BOGO is what won the transformers week the people that matter would know that.... Again, just because it matters here doesnt mean it matters to the people who matter.

It's a POS count. So, until there is an exchange of money (cash or credit) it isn't a sale.

Pre-orders: Not a sale
$0 items: No exchange of money

Very true. Most of the movie buying public do not keep track of the sales numbers nor do they care.

RE: David Vaughn

Ok, I've been reading HomeTheaterSpot, and if he's TRYING to be neutral, he's failing pretty hard at it.

He's using the beta vs. VHS argument.
He's claiming the "HD-DVD is good enough" mantra.
He claims that the fact that Blu-Ray has won software sales is meaningless due to low volume.
He's still harping on low yields.
He says Blu-Rays have "widespread failures" while HD-DVD failures are limited to a "select few sporadic problems".

Now this may simply be where he's trying to get his information from, however he seriously needs to examine his own arguments for fallacies.

Lest you think I'm reading old posts, these are all within the last 4 days.

These are the underlying reasons that caused him to get banned from here in the first place. There is no question he is pro HD-DVD.

I would settle for hard facts! How many blu-ray players have had "failures"? What type are these "failures"? What "sporadic problems" has HD-DVD had...why are they minor? How were they fixed?

Blanket statements without any references (verifiable) are worth less than the electrons they are printed with!

Very interesting that DV has not released anything yet? After 3 on the West Coast and after 6 on the East and still no word. I would think that he would be blasting his horn if the numbers were out. Yes, he could be busy, but this is not like him, or as he has been of late.
