J6P doesn't know the difference between .004 and .001 or .0005, no is he willing to pay the cost to implement the technology. The CE manufacturers are concentrating on 3D because 3D is more likely to entice J6P into replacing their 3 or 4 yr old display, rather than the implementation of Kuro technology. They cater to the masses, since it makes up the bulk of their sales.
