Haven't you ever heard of taking a medium size cooking pot, covering the bottom of the pot with olive oil (deep enough to barely cover a kernel of corn), turning the stove to medium high, then covering the bottom of the pot with popcorn kernels, putting a lid over the pot, not closing it, but slightly off-center to let steam escape, then waiting 5 minutes while sliding the pot around to keep the seeds moving in the oil...when the kernels have popped, put the popcorn in a bowl... Then add melted butter, salt, even herbs etc. if you wish...

it's better than movie theatre popcorn
