Number one on my want to see list, but I may as well watch it later in the week and take advantage of the three at half price today.

I laughed twice and chuckled twice, 3 of the four were from Dwayne Johnson.

as a movie in general but absolutely horrid as a comedy.

Steve Carrel is, in my opinion, one of the most unfunny people to have ever walked the Earth.

Dwayne Johnson (in a small part), Terry Crews (in a VERY small part), Terrence Stamp and Anne Hathaway each made the movie better for me though to some extent.

But it wasn't enough unfortunately.

Rating - 2.75/5

For Comedy - 0.5/5
We don't always agree on movies, but I think this might be one of the ones we disagree on the most. I love this movie and actually liked it better than I expected to when I saw it the first time.

I'm not a Steve Carell fan in the slightest, but I did like him in this movie (and Despicable Me if you want to count it). I thought him and Anne Hathaway worked pretty well together. They were quite the odd pairing, but I think that was a plus.

agree 100% one of the worst films i have never finished. i keep catching about 20-25 minutes a night of it when it plays endlessly on TBS and i just cannot for the life of me find any of it funny. overall, mildly entertaining, but as you so excellently put it - as a comedy it SUCKS.

Carrell is best in The Office, and The 40 Year-Old Virgin. not much else he has been in has been funny. much like Will Ferrell. he is very rarely funny to me. maybe like 1 out of 5 films of his i enjoy.

That was good because thats how the TV show was. I thought Carrel was a PERFECT choice for Smart, but I found the movie very meh.

Hotel Rwanda [116 minutes]

Year: 2005 (yes, 2005. February 2005 )
Director: Terry George

after picking up all my pre-orders from Best Buy this morning i decided to start with Hotel Rwanda to get my rolling. and what a mistake that was not because the film is bad. no, not at all. it's amazing. it's just severely depressing and emotionally draining and not exactly the best way to start your day

story is centered around Paul Rusesabagina (portrayed brilliantly by the awesome Don Cheadle) who works at / runs a hotel in the middle of a conflict zone between the Hutu militia and the Tutsi rebels and harbors Tutsi rebels, who are being slaughtered, while being a Hutu himself (which means he is safe, but by harboring and protecting the "enemy" he is risking his family's life and his own).

the film is a roller coaster of emotion, and while maybe not perfectly made, it does what it's supposed to - glues your eyes to the screen and makes you care about the characters. numerous times i was on the edge of my seat, worried about what was gonna happen next. and numerous scenes that really tug at ya. i think the hardest scene to watch was
[Show spoiler]when the "whites" were leaving and the kids were being separated from the nuns and priests and put on the buses to leave
, which is odd because there are numerous scenes involving violence, or the aftermath of violence.

not a film i will watch very often, but was well worth the $10

PQ: 4/5 blu-ray looks pretty damn good. sure, there are some soft scenes, but detail is always found and nothing is "fuzzy" or washed out.
AQ: 3.5/5 i wasn't really paying too much attention to this, but it was quite good. nothing demo worthy, but very nice sound. especially with distant gun fire and an excellent score over the dialogue.

4.5/5

How would you rate this one? 4.5?

Maybe you are just giving the movie a 2 point boost because you enjoyed Anne Hathaway so much...which is far from a bad thing

I've only seen some of 40 Year-Old Virgin (like 20 minutes or so), no interest in seeing the whole film. Will Ferrel has Talladega Nights for me, Carrel has...well nothing, so I guess by default I think he is less funny than Ferrel.

no idea and i don't think it says on amazon or BB how long it is. i would guess... a month or two? but not sure. i mean, Anchorman is still an exclusive, but TBWP isn't (i don't think) so i have no idea how they figure this out or sign it for exclusivity for.
