Default Blu-ray & Sony hater misinforming the public in Minnesota...

You guys need to check this site out:

http://www.soundadviceblog.com/

There is a lot of Blu-ray bashing on this guy’s internet blog. This is the guy that the Twin Cities (Minnesota) major newspaper, The Star Tribune, has to write articles in our Technology Section. I get completely pissed everytime I read one of this guy’s articles. Please leave comments on his site, hopefully to get him to see the light. Make sure to read all of his articles, especially the ones on the first page towards the middle to the end of the page.

He keeps on writing in our newspaper that HD-DVD is the clear choice and is obviously going to be the winner. Provide him facts such as Blu-ray has outsold HD-DVD every week this year and whatever facts you can provide him with. It’s sad that he is misinforming the public around the twin cities area. He constantly says how he does not like Sony and Blu-ray, so instead of taking a neautral stance, and providing facts, he is showing only his side of the table.

Help me out here guys.

It is a well known assclown's blog.
Well...well known for being an assclown, but not that well known to the general public as a blog.

Can't you contact the newspaper itself and complain that he is doing the city a disservice by writing that HD DVD is the clear winner when it hasnt even won a week this year?

I mean he cant just go out and say Betamax is the clear winner. He can remain optimistic about HD DVD, but his job is to inform people, not lie to them. You could complain that he needs to point out that although he thinks HD DVD is going to pull ahead and win, he cant ignore the sales data or the heavy studio support.

What I found most revealing was the complete lameness of the web-enabled features. A poll about which classic movie you want on HD? A series of questions about you feel about the movie? Those seem to be examples of using technology just for sake of using it.

I've read enough of this guy already. I've seen him before. He is clearly an HD DVD advocate. His arguments are not sound, and he does nothing to promote HD DVD except say "it has finished specs" and "its cheaper".
If that's all he can say, wait until January. All his complaints will be over.
The prices are already less than $300, profile 1.1 players are coming out this week, and the movies will be out in January, and some profile 2.0 movies will be out then too!
This is just FUD, nothing more.
Ignore him and move on with your lives.

I have emailed the Star Tribune about his writings before in that his articles should be labeled as advertisements since many of his "facts" are baseless.

This in particular bugs the hell out of me, as does all bonus content. Sounds like some sort of support group, "how i feel about the movie". Definitely sounds like something Microsoft would want.

Microsoft exec #1: Tuesday's coming. Did you bring your coat?
Microsoft exec #2: Let's put a bunch of crap in the bonus content area!

Similar to how they categorize some of their lame Vista gadgets as "Techy, geeky, cool." Yes I am an insecure, angst ridden teen and that describes what I want to be! I love you microsoft!

(reference to "Rejected")

I can't believe this guy actually works for a paper....I had an e-mail battle with him awhile back and told him that his views were FUD. here is the interesting part......I e-mailed him the Digital Bits reasonings for endorsing Blu and he literally had a cow.....I mean his head exploded!

You can't talk to him......the newspaper needs to be informed that he is spreading lies.

Don't sweat it. Nothing written in the Star and Sickle has any credibility.

Surely even advertisements aren't allowed to make untrue claims?

Lick's Dick is such a joke. And I agree, to call him an assclown is an insult to assclowns around the world. I prefer a very special name that a friend of mine came up with years ago: ****nuckle. I asked her what it was supposed to mean, and she just said she liked the sound of it, and you know what? I agree with her! (thanks Autumn!)

Now, as far as Warner on the card for HD DVD at CES: so what? Besides, whether or not they announce anything of importance or not, they're members of the group, and if they're wanting to maintain the image of neutrality, they should be expected to make an appearance and say a few words.

Now, it would be very, very funny if those few words were "we're going Blu-exclusive. Sorry, but you're screwed..."

The expectation is that people in the press like these who deliberately misinform their readers will pay a price in their own reputation and credibility when the format war is settled. If people listen to them and end up with obsolete equipment, it's collateral damage to innocent bystanders that is unfair to people who didn't understand the early adopter game and got trapped in it.

This is what happens in a format war, all sorts of people with buried hatchets (or in some cases - paid) come out of the woodworks and it becomes impossible to stay neutral. Having tried both formats and seeing strenghts and weaknesses in both, I pretty much lean on technology's strength, the burners work, the BD50 DL manufacuring is understood, yup, that's about it. I'm always biased towards the fundamental technology. Once I played with the burners and stuck a BD-RE in a PS3 and see what 22GB of EVOB converted to M2TS looks like, that point was when I picked a side.

I am not an insider, and other than throwing what my wife thinks is insane amount of money to accelerate a movie collection that has already overwhelmed existing shelvings of DVDs.

Copy the guy's source coding for his page. Open up a mock page with whatever allotted space you get from the ISP. Debunk all his myths and proceed to tear him apart. Then get it in Google and proceed to link it here. There will be more hits than his, so when someone Google's him, you get your mock website as the first hit.

Try it. It's a bloggers nightmare.

P.S. You could just shoot him in the face.

Hi Penton.

Yes, I am attending CES and reporting back in the AVS forums on HD related items again this year. Topics include BD & HD DVD media and players, displays, camcorders, HD over-the-air broadcasts etc.

I am already on the list for both the BD Promotion group and Sony's press conferences. But I have to admit also on Toshiba's and HD DVD's.

Will I see you there? (I still can't figure out who you are !)

[PS34EVER, sorry to Hijack your thread.]
