Yeah, for cod to create a new engine they would have to actually do some work and not just another paint job, and despite the huge amounts of money they are making out of it they aren't about to spend some on actually making a good game. gggrrrr

A little information about the graphic difference between systems. With a little punch at the 360
http://www.nowgamer.com/news/5260/ba...od-on-consoles DICE Art Director Gustav Tilleby has said that upcoming military shooter Battlefield 3 will have ground-breaking visuals on consoles as well as PC Battlefield 3 was detailed to the developer community - and the press - at EA's GDC event yesterday. Tilleby told X360 magazine that DICE's Frostbite 2.0 engine which powers the game is “a step beyond our competitors, and it allows us to do more”. "The game will look very good, even on 360” And while the stunning looking Battlefield 3 trailers doing the rounds are clearly rendered on high-end gaming PCs, consoles won't look that different. “The positive thing is that the new rendering technique allows us to do more complex calculations at no extra cost," added Tilleby. "That’s the magic. The game will look very good, even on 360.” “We knew that people would think that this demo was running on PC, but the good thing is that it’s all based on streaming,” added executive producer Patrick Bach. "I can promise you that the console versions will still look amazing because of the core technology. If you have a 360, we want to use that machine to the maximum.” Look out for much more Battlefield 3 coverage later this week on NowGamer. |

He was just saying that yes, obviously, PC and console versions will look different, but not as different as you might think. we'll see I guess. I'm more interested to hear about how the heck they are going to make 24 players work well on 64 player maps without halving the playable area. |

I'm far more concerned with giving the Battlefield name a bad rep than what the graphics look like. |

I would not put any stock into DICE's Medal of Honor effort. This is a brand new engine, and Battlefield is DICE's baby. I also heard awhile back that they were working on a few other projects, but either delayed or canceled them and put there entire team onto the Battlefield 3 project, to make it not just good, but great. I don't feel like researching this, so if anybody has some clarity on this, please chime in.

I think the MoH MP was probably a favor to EA. |

System requirements have not been realesed for battlefield 3 yet, nor would we be ale to comment even if they had with the info you provided. We also don't know how well the game will scale etc. |

At this point, its impossible to tell for sure what type of system is going to run BF3 pretty well at a common PC resolution. But we can make educated guesses. One fun thing to do is connect your PC to an HDTV and run everything in 720p. Then you get a resolution as good as the consoles-----but all of the major improvements in lighting and shader effects, as well as some Anti-Aliasing. My videocard is a couple of years old (ATI 3870) but still runs games well (especially console ports) with most settings high or cranked at 720p. *So, at least since BF2, Dice is known for making graphics engines that run well on PCs. Also taking into account that this game will scale down to perform acceptably on consoles and DICE says they have a rendering technique that sidesteps some of the traditional performance requirements: I'd say that an ATI 38** series/Geforce 8 series or newer will get you a decent boost in quality over the console versions. Though with those cards, you may not get a huge resolution advantage. But you're probably gonna want a Quad-Core CPU to back it up. BF games run the sound and some other things off of the extra cores. The PC version of BC2 took a noticeable hit on a dual core. Anyone with an existing laptop and a Quad-core or better should be able to drop in a $100 or better videocard and have a great time. Laptops are tricky because they aren't upgradeable. if you were going to shift to pc gaming, why would you stick with a controller? the keyboard and mouse is far more accurate for fps. even if you aren't used to it initially, you'll adjust quickly and wonder why you ever played fps with a controller.

people were saying KZ3 or BF3 would come close.. i don't know where to find numbers but i can bet KZ3's first week sales didn't beat CoD's pre-order money... plus KZ3 is a ps3 exclusive so i dont know why people thought that Last edited by Xerios; 03-03-2011 at 06:18 PM. |

Just type dxdiag into the start menu and click "no" when the dialog box pops up to check for driver signing.
after this you'll get several tabs, the first two are what you want. Tab 1 is all of your general system specs minus the video card. Tab 2 (display) is your videocard. |
