Yep. If its even slightly descent, he wants nothing to do with it. He only buys utter garbage. He has some really obscure stuff that we average people have never EVER heard of.

Wow... I don't think I can stomach a regular diet of that. Bad horror movies are usually extremely cheesy and just plain horrible.

i wonder if he has a film called "Incubus". it stars Tara Reid and i think she plays a genius medical student

i remember seeing it years ago on the shelf when i worked at wal-mart in electronics third shift and thought, "well this is more crap no one will buy". i'm guessing at least one person did

Haha I didn't notice that, I'll look for that next time. I'm definitely gettin the blu when I can find a good deal. My only complaint about the film was that the boxing looked and felt very staged at times, but other than that, I thought it was great. Bale jumping out the back 2 story window had me rollin!

The Godfather - 4.75/5

Been a long time since I've seen this but I really enjoyed it. For the most part, the film holds up quite well today. I've never seen the second so I'll rent it sometime soon.

Tortilla Soup - 4/5

A cute little film about a latino family living in the American lifestyle. If you're looking for a feel good family romantic comedy, this one is pretty good.

Vertigo - 4/5

Classic Hitchcock, probably my favorite of his that I've seen (seen Psycho but I don't remember it). Jimmy Stewart's very good in what is probably his darkest role. I really like Hitchcock's use of color in the film, lots of reds and greens, especially during Madelaine's transformation

I thought the funniest time he did it was the last time when their mother came to the back. It's like "really, you didn't figure out from the last time that they just walk around to the back of the house since they know you do that?"

Sucker Punch

My boredom last night overrode my hesitation to see this based on early feedback. This is not the total turd some are making it out to be. People who claim so are not positioning themselves honestly on the spectrum of crap-fantastic movies. There’s a lot to like, but there’s a lot missing.

What’s to like? The movie is visually stunning. It nailed a pure style and atmosphere of its own while borrowing flavours of movies like Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. The scene framing and the use of a muted colour palate is beautiful.

Much of Sucker Punch plays out as a music video. It often uses music as a replacement for internal narration or dialogue; you have to listen to the lyrics for full effect. Of particular note is a cover version of The Smiths' song Asleep, whose lyrics hit every element that the critics seem to be missing. It’s a truly depressing song about
[Show spoiler]being resigned to suicide
; a sentiment that foreshadows the ending. The song is sung early in the film, shortly after the opening sequence which sets up the emotional events that are intended to drive the story. Missing the punch of those lyrics is also missing Baby Doll’s sense of desperation.

The next greatest musical choice is the use of Bjork’s Army of Me. The mix used in the movie is so visceral and pounding, it sets up the whole atmosphere of female empowerment very effectively. Again, if you gloss over the lyrics, you miss the unspoken realisations occurring in her head.

Ok, so those are some things that were done really well in my book. So what’s missing? Following the initial set-up, the remainder of the movie plays out like a paint-by-numbers series of action sequences that made me feel like I was lounging on a friend’s couch watching them play the latest video game. I did enjoy turning off the brain and watching these sequences for their fluidity, but at the end of the day there was very little sense of peril or tension.

The good news is that most of the problems this movie has might actually be solved by adding back in the cut material. For now I’ll give this movie a 3.5/5, although I understand scores as low as 2/5 if you’re not into a narrative free (read music video) style of story-telling. I can only recommend this theatrical version to those of you who are able to watch a movie and not take it too seriously. I could see an extended cut involving more character development reaching a possible 4/5.

Food rating:

[Show spoiler]A nice looking cream puff, short on filling, with a bite out of it

Remember the Titans

I can't remember if I've reviewed this one before or not.

I think some would say this is one of the best "sports movies" around, which when looked at in that way, yes, it is. But I don't think it is a sports movie. It's a movie that does involve sports, but that is not what it is truly about.

This movie is about a group of high school kids, their coaches and a city dealing with racism in the 1970s, learning to live with each other (or for some not doing so) and accepting each other as the same and forming new friendships and respect for their fellow man.

The movie has some bits of comedy and also some bits of drama held within its story; and both work very well.

Denzel Washington basically plays Denzel Washington again...but that's never a bad thing. He does a very good job as the head coach. Definitely the best thing about this movie.

The rest of the main cast each do their jobs fine and bring what they needed to bring to the table; the weakest is probably the guy who played Ray.

And if you like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" this movie is for you

Does anyone know if Poolhall Junkies is available on blu. I can never seem to find it anywhere, and it is one of my guilty pleasures.
