This might be of some use to you. Dell CSR's were not well prepared to answer my questions regarding BDD's and the on line configuration tools don't really specify which drives are available by manufacturer/model, etc. They do include some information about write speed/features so, one must work backwords using the link I provided.

My Inspiron 1720 came with the UJ-220. Apparently the UJ-225 was not an option on my machine.

EDIT: I just realized that the link I provided is for the UK, however the USA verisons appear to be the same, found here.
