I finally got to had some time to play since I got my 2nd VTF-15H.
I played scenes from the following movies at the same volume setting on my receiver(-17) with the subs 2db's hot and everything else at 75db's. Pulse - chapter 15 lab scene Ironman 2(IM2) - whips on the race track & chapter 10 fly-by How To Train Your Dragon(HTTYD) - chapter 15 big dragon crash. Flight of the Phoenix(FOTP) - Chapter 5 sand storm. I took SPL levels with my Scosche Digital SPL Meter which has a min/max setting so it holds the reading at it's peak. Of the 5 scenes the Barrel role from FOTP was the highest measured from my main spot at 109.9 db's max. Although it had the highest SPL the scene that I felt the most was the IM2 fly-by which maxed a little lower at 108.1 db's. I work on a fighter base with jets flying over my house all the time and my wife came down right after that scene and told me the whole house shook like it did 2 years ago when one of our jets broke the sound barrier 40kms away. Pretty damn scary!! The whips measured at 106.7 db's and was also strong with more of an in the chest and back kick vs the whole body feel. The lab scene from Pulse was a very different feeling compared to any other scene. It measured the lowest at 104.2 db's but was very strong you almost feel like the room is gonna swallow you. The HTTYD dragon measured almost the same as the IM2 whips at 106.9 db's and had a similar feeling to the fly by but not as strong. All scenes were very impressive but my favorite overall scene was the whole sand storm in FOTP. It had the highest SPL's and felt almost as strong as the fly-by but it was long lasting with all kinds of bass from the start of the chapter right up to the crash. The LFE with the wicked surround use makes this the new scene that I'll be using to show off my system! Last edited by -DLS-; 03-22-2011 at 03:18 AM. |

Waiting for The Deathly Hallows
![]() Inception is a good one but not as deep as I imagined. Although output is very loud so it gives an illusion of tremendous bass, especially in the coffee shop scene. (God,we 're talking for some serious output at about 20Ηz as if it's a game ![]() Oh and one you can't imagine: Aftershock. All hell is breaking loose during the earthquake scene. A demo for all your speakers, not just subs. Generally,Chinese are giving serious examples with their latest movies, like the Red Cliff. |

Not available as Blu ? yet, the scene where Mick swings the "Secret Sacred" (Bull Roarer) around his head has serious LFE (Doppler effect) scared my Chinese neighbours!!!
