Glitches on Terminator salvation in the same 4 spots every time as well. Some sound glitches on Tron Legacy as well. My PS3 never has these issues on these same discs. If the PS3 had bitstream it would be a non issue Id use it in the theater.
go and buy PS3 slim it can do bitstreaming and decoding...

Yeah, the PS3 is a good way to go. While there are players now that outperform it (in mostly marginal ways), it has been a good, solid, reliable machine with overall very reliable compatibility. After I started having problems with my Samsung player, I got a PS3 (and this is back when they were the 'phat' models and cost $500). I still have that PS3 and have since gotten another (a 120GB slim model). I've never had any major playback problems that I can recall. They are very good and quick with updating the firmware when it's needed to play discs (though I find that I don't usually need to update the firmware just to play a newer disc).

Also in general Sony and Panasonic players seem like good reliable machines. I don't have any first hand experience with Panasonic players, but in addition to my PS3s, I also have a Sony Blu-Ray player (the specific model escapes me at the moment.... it's the one from the Disney Movie Rewards promotion that was going on at the end of last year), and while I haven't had it for too long and my experience with it is minimal compared to the PS3, it's been good so far with no problems.

And you really don't have to have the same brand components for things to work correctly. Hooking up a Sony or Panasonic player to a Samsung TV will work just fine.

Is the decoding onboard like the PS3 fatty? So your receiver reads PCM when selected, or is it true bitstream that sends the raw signal to the receiver to decode?

I have a fat but I think you can do either with the slim.

yes they are the same ,the only difference between Slim and the fat one capability of bitstreaming everything else are equally the same.

I have had a Samsung BD P3600 since July 2009. I have had zero issues and has never refused any of my over 100 titles. I will say the customer service is the worst I've seen anywhere. Yes, the firmware updating is a joke. It's every few months LOL It's obvious after the sale is made, these guys wash their hands.

Yes, I have a Samsung BDP2500 that I've had for a couple years and it's been rock solid, plays everything I've ever thrown at it and with Reon processor the PQ is excellent. But I'll never buy another Samsung after reading all the problems other folks have had with different Samsung models. And I ended up with the 2500 almost by accident as Best Buy had it on display when I took my Samsung BDP1400 back for return and I was impressed with the DVD upconversion. The 1400 was aboslutely the worst piece of shite I ever had and I returned it after only 2 days. It had this bug that if you paused a BD for more than a few minutes when you hit Play instead of resuming playback it loaded the disc all over again as if you'd just inserted the disc. And with slow loading java discs or $%#@! Lionsgate BDs that make you skip a half dozen trailers one by one, that's adding insult to injury.

And even though my 2500 has been perfect, I read on AVSforum that alot of folks have a problem with Netflix streaming, that the player keeps dropping the Netflix device setting and they have to enable it all over again. But I don't even have my player connected to the internet.

The player is painfully slow, and with DVD's it will usually freeze or skip, while playing them, while my old DVD player plays them just fine

Exclamation Samsung bd-c6500 blu ray player WONT START

My Samsung bd-c6500 blu ray player will not start. It powers on, displays "Hello" then displays "LOAD" and does nothing. There is not even a disc in the player to try to load. The screen stays black the whole time. The player worked fine for the first couple weeks I had it, but now it does not. I only watched a few movies on it too. Occasionally after I turn it on and off a hundred times and unplug it and plug it back in it will work and get me to the menu screen, but its rare. Does anybody else have this problem. Any suggestions? Thanks

I've had my 6500 for months now and it's played everything so far without a hitch. I've had no issues. WiFi works perfect via my WRT610 Linksys router and I've received updates as they release them. The player has been flawless since I bought it. I would recommend you take yours back and exchange it for another one.

I will never buy a "Samsuck" ANYTHING again.
They have the worst "customer service" in the industry.
Spend a few extra bucks for an OPPO ... you won't ever regret it!

I've never had a problem with my Samsung BD-P1600, knock on wood. Can't say as though I agree with the majority in this thread based upon my own world experience - although, I do agree about the slow firmware updates.

My little Samsung BD-P1600 is still rocking and I haven't had issues with it. Scrolling through our Netflix instant queue can be annoyingly slow, but that's not a deal breaker to me and I already knew about that going in.

Thumbs down Samsung Blu ray

I would strongly recommend no one should buy any Samsung Blu Ray! Absolutely sick of the volume dropping to zero n the Samsung support is non existent. Tried so many venues but no luck n they r least bothered .i used to be a strong advocate for Samsung . Don't get fooled by their advertising
