Will give my disc a spin in a minute and report back on whether the extras are 480p or 576p.
Update - The extras are 480p so this disc will work just fine in any BD player worldwide. Last edited by Indiana Jones; 04-22-2011 at 01:12 PM. |

There is another forum that confirms that both the German and UK versions work on US players. They also said that the UK has both version of the the movie, theatrical and Japanese extended. They said the German version doesn't have German dubbed Audio and during the Japanese segments retains the English subtitles. And why people had issues with the extras, I have no idea. Note that this other site, no one talked about the extras.

Don't know. You can contact the sources I listed and ask them (that includes Blu-ray.com members that posted issues with the extras). You want links? If anything smells like BS, its you and your pompous attitude.

This forum user reported that the extras didn't work on his TV, ask him. https://www.blu-ray.com/community/profile.php?u=22011 That was last August. I reported that and The_Driver jumped all over it like I was the one that said it.
![]() Another BD forum member reported, "Sadly, I just purchased the Region B version of Tora! Tora! Tora! and am watching it now. It looks fantastic on BD but sadly, I disagree with the couple of people who rated the film here and that is only because of the AQ. The AQ is really good but the subtitles are a big problem. In English DTS HD 5.1, one only gets part of the translation of the Japanese spoken word. How could they get that so wrong when the rest of the release is so stellar?" https://forum.blu-ray.com/movies/127...ml#post3412251 Probably isolated incidents. But I have provided both members contact info so you can contract them for more info. Last edited by slick1ru2; 04-23-2011 at 06:15 PM. |

Well the extras are definitely 480p so there really should be no issue with playing it on the US.
As for the subtitles, I haven't watched the whole film yet but the scenes I saw which feature Japanese audio had subtitles that seemed to make sense and came up when it seemed they should. |

So are all the European releases identical or are there any differences?

Very interesting disc! Seems like it's for the UK, Russian and Spanish market.
It has 2 versions of the film which is nice and I'm not really sure which I'll watch. My memory of the movie is very fuzzy so I might go with the non-Japan cut. I tested the disc in a all-NTSC (ie North America, Japan etc) setup and Euorpean setup and there's nothing that won't play. Looks like the disc is meant for a very specific market too as the subtitles are very limited compared to the usual Fox releases: ![]() The subtitle options do seem to be different depending on which version you choose and this may be deliberate or maybe you can change them on the fly. Covers: ![]() ![]() Some screengrabs (untouched PNG 1080p): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Picture certainly looks wonderful! Those images look great. If anyone needs something about the disc checking just post the question. Would be nice to hear what people who have seen the 'Japanese version' and still have a fresh memory of the better known version. |

For reference:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/germany/11...tora-tora.html (Germany) https://forum.blu-ray.com/france/118...tora-tora.html (France) https://forum.blu-ray.com/italy/1197...tora-tora.html (Italy) Not the same disc at all, then. |

Thanks for the info on compatibility everyone. Be nice if Midway comes out soon too. Placed my order, under $20 with shipping to the U.S.. But if you do that, check your CC rate of conversion, its often lower then Amazon by a little, gives you exactly what the published exchange rate is at the moment, Amazon adds a little on top.
