Yes, this is no different than Avatar, except the Cameras PJ are using are 48fps instead of 24 fps like the ones Cameron used. 48 fps can be converted to 24 fps and put on BD just like Avatar, and will look fantastic on your home television, even if its not 3D.

The Saorise Ronan/Itaril Rumours Can Now Be Laid To Rest

In a new interview with the Belfast Telegraph, Saorise Ronan has revealed that she will not be playing the long rumoured role of the Elf Itaril in the upcoming Hobbit films.

An excerpt follows:

It’s probably not going to work out with The Hobbit unfortunately.

Because I would have been working for about a year on it and there were other projects that I was very interested in.

Head over to the Belfast Telegraph to read Ronan’s entire statement in the interview.

Kind of like how Eminem sent Nolan a letter asking him if he could be in the new Batman. He wanted to be the Riddler.

She could play a younger version of Shelob. Certainly has the posterior for it.

I'm glad to hear that Weaving will reprise his role. This release cannot come fast enough!

Freeman Goes on Hobbit Hiatus

Quote:
Ian McKellen blogs that Martin Freeman, who stars as Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit, has gone on hiatus in order to fulfill his previous commitment to shoot three more Sherlock telefilms. (Freeman, in case you didn't know, plays Dr. Watson in the show.) He'll return to the Hobbit production upon completion of Sherlock.

"The rest of the cast remains on duty for another few weeks, working on hobbit-less sections of the film. These involve dwarves of course but also elves, with Hugo Weaving back for a stretch as Lord Elrond," wrote McKellen.

McKellen added, "And there's another wizard in town, preparing to make his appearance as Radagast the Brown, the eccentric friend of Gandalf's, played by Sylvester McCoy ... This week he has been trying out his make-up and costume."

Guess that's why they were focusing a lot on his scenes to date from what I'd read.

Eccentric? I beg your pardon, Mr. McKellen. Tolkien doesn't write much about Radagast in LOTR and even less in The Hobbit. Is this a clue about how PJ is going to cram that character into the movie?

Yeah, but wasn't Radagast more concerned with his relationship with plants an animals than his role as one of the 5 Wizards? You would think that would fall under the definition of "Eccentric"

If I remember correctly, of the five wizards, only three are mentioned; Saruman was into studying ring lore, Radagast was into studying and helping animals, and Gandalf was interested in studying and helping Hobbits, among other humanoids.
I would think they were all rather eccentric.

And then there was poor Alatar and Pallando who were sent to the far East for who knows what for, and never heard from again...

[Show spoiler]

I would LOVE to hear sometime in the future that they find the manuscripts to a separate story involving these two, but realistically that will never happen.
