It's probably going to take more than a sore throat to stop Lauren Alaina.

A report that the 16-year-old may not be able to sing in the American Idol finals tonight, thereby paving the way for Haley Reinhart's return, is "highly exaggerated," a show source assures E! News.
But, alas, they're not out of the woods yet.

Haley is standing by, just in case Lauren can't go on, an insider tells us. The finalists are supposed to sing three songs tonight, but she struggled through her second number during rehearsal and was unable to practice her third.

The source says that a doctor examined Lauren on set and producers think she'll be able to proceed, but apparently nothing is for sure right this second.

Though Haley's elimination last week was a tough one, it would be pretty heartbreaking to see Lauren go down like this.

If she does make it, however, we'll be listening for hoarseness, but we also won't be surprised if her voice sounds like it always does—mature, full of emotion and country strong.

Of all episodes to rush, you rush the finale. Good call producers/Fox.

Scotty - eh; I don't even remember him singing that.
Lauren - okay; much better the first time.


Round 2:

Scotty - Pretty good.
Lauren - Good.


Round 3:
Scotty - eh.
Lauren - Very good; MUCH better than her first two songs.


Lauren very much deserves the win between these two. Doesn't really matter though as it would be a shocker if Scotty DIDN'T win.


The stupid Coke thing should have been saved for tomorrow night...not on a competition night...of course I would prefer if it hadn't been done at all
That time could have been spread around to give the show a less rushed feeling in the beginning. Sponsorship rules though

Haley was talented but country fans are more likely to support the music they like (voting). At least that's what I hear.

Of course I kinda like all three. Not so sure about Scotty's range. Maybe he could figure that out with time. After Haley's last song I could see either one of them winning.

I'm a REAL country fan, was raised on it, and have been for over 20 years and I only liked Haley. I hate the two finalists. It's not that we like voting, it's that 12 year olds like texting.

This is just a shame that Scotty will win this. Thats ok because Haley already signed her record deal. The best two singers in the competition both got deals. Pia & Haley. You think Lee from last year is better than Scotty?

I will be very surprised is Scotty's debut sells less than Lee's.

Scotty won't sell more than Lauren though, she has a wider appeal than he does.



In other news, Lee won't be at the finale tomorrow. I forget...isn't the previous winner usually there?

Really Haley is going to sing tonight? Thats cool... will be something to wake me up. Last night was boring.

I would rather see Lauren win tonight over Scotty, but neither are my cup of tea.

Laughing to myself at people who think any choice made on this show is what "America" wants... its what a bunch of kids with too much time on their hands that vote hundreds of times want.

Jimmy Iovine signed her to Interscope along with Pia Toscana. I dont know if u were watching before Pia got eliminated but her and Haley were easily the best two singers this year and two of the best ever on that show. They are the only two with deals so far. Got Em!!

Lee is better than Scotty and has more range. Scotty will probably sell good because there will be a bunch of teenage chicks buying his music but that doesnt mean he is any good. I would rather listen to Lee over Scotty anyday though. Got Em!!

Edit: I obviously agree with you about Pia though, by far the best this season. My ideal finale would have been her and Lauren as they were my favorites from early on (Hollywood week for Pia and audition for Lauren).

That's a pretty big shift from earlier in the season when you were saying that Scotty was very good/great.
I liked Lee on the show last year because he was good...not "listen to him after the show is over" good though. I've heard his album and it blows

There's no definitive way to say someone is good or not. Some people will say that Elvis isn't good (I don't like him), some will say that Steven Tyler isn't good....and some will say Miley Cyrus IS good
It's all about the individual person's ear.

My wife made me watch this last night. I wasn't interested - I thought the finale was going to be Pia and James - NOW THAT would have been a freakin' show.

Scotty and Lauren doing country songs? Nope. Bored to tears.

And why would George Straight pick "Check yes or no" for a singing competition? It's a cute song - who knows, maybe that's why he picked it - for all the teeny boppers voting.

Oh well. This season started off strange and then America cut out all the strong singers.

Lauren can be good, but she is boring to watch.
Scotty has a great country voice - but is boring to watch.

Both will sell records. Scotty will have a good career. He'll be the (can't remember her name. . . . . ) - oh, he'll be the male version of Taylor Swift. Lot's of pop/country tunes for teen girls.

Anyway, couldn't care who wins since it really has nothing to do with who or who doesn't get a record deal. In fact, winning American Idol is almost a curse at this point. So many went on to have empty careers.
