They probably are in the very early planning stages sure. But the article that started this thread was mistakenly meant to mean the PS4 and it wasn't. Sony has a ton of financial issues, in a country coping with a massive double whammy, and the PS3 is still selling well half way through its life cycle. I don't expect the PS4 for years.


Microsoft put their last console out before it was debugged and their next console won't have Blu-ray. Not having Blu-ray still leaves the PS3 in a class by itself.

And why would the next Microsoft console not have Blu-ray? Assuming you're going to say Sony owns Blu-ray and Microsoft doesn't want to pay their competition you need to remember Sony doesn't completely own Blu-ray, the BDA does and Sony co-created DVD and Microsoft happily used that for the Xbox and Xbox 360.
