Because Microsoft repeatedly says that Blu-ray is not going in their consoles. Google it. Just like their newest Windows Media player won't play BD, they hate Blu-ray, want it to fail and have put out releases that Blu-ray is dying.

Correction, Matshusita aka Panasonic invented DVD. Several companies including Sony came in and supported the format, just like there was a supporting manufacturer lineup for HD DVD vs Blu-ray.
