Picked this up for $19.99 at Best Buy ($24.99 - $5 coupon that is around online).
Depending on your preferences you may want to avoid Best Buy's exclusive of this title as the 2d Bluray in the set is a Blu/DVD flipper disc from what the box said. |

There were a few scenes with some decent depth to them in the caves but other than that pretty bland in my opinion. Definately not top 5 material sad to say. I was excited since they plastered Cameron's name all over it and said it was conceptualized in 3d etc...but personally I wasn't seeing too much quality 3d here. |

In the end, I thought the 3D was mostly well done.
Particularly, in the well lit-scenes I felt like peoples faces were really 3D, ie rounded and almost tangible. I thought the exteriors were beautiful. Some of the distance shots underground had great scope to them... That being said the (understandably and story serving) not well lit underwater scenes had no pop or depth to them. "that scene" in Piranha worked much better as far as underwater scenes. |

I am surprised at the bad press this movie gets. Sure it's no blockbuster, and does start a bit slow, but the visuals are great, and you can't help but get a sense of feeling like you are trapped in the caves and underwater yourself. 3D was enjoyable, and thought the story and acting was well done. This one one of only a few 3D titles that I have watched more than once already. I give it a thumbs up!

I feel it is an underrated movie because it had no stars, but IMO it is the one with the best 3D because it serves very well for what is happening. It doesnt pop up as much, but it is immersive, and like someone said above, you feel trapped in the action.
The only thing I hated from the disc set was that the commentary was on the 2D BD... I would have loved to be able to see the film in 3D and listen to the commentary! |

Saw this yesternight and I am thoroughly impressed with the 3D....I kept thinking that this was on par with Avatar and Hugo and at the end found out that it was produced by James cameron with Avarat 3D cameras.
The 3D depth shows in every scene and this has to be one of the best out there. Unfortunately its not a family movie owing to grisly endings. But the 3D captured the vastness, incredible depth and claustrophobia for the caves. Many times I found myself panicking with the actors when they got caught in a tight spaces ! |

Picked this up on Amazon.co.uk when it was showing £6. Got that and both Flying Monsters 3D, so shipped it was about $11.
It arrived yesterday and I wanted to throw it in to check it worked okay because I saw some people on another forum mention issues. Ended up watching it all the way through. It loaded pretty slowly at first but was fine. The 3D isn't labeled '3D' so at first I thought I'd got 2 x blu-ray in the box but there's a serial number on the disc and the 3D one has G71 in it and the blu-ray has G51 in it. Anyhow....from the start, the 3D was very strong. Lots of depth throughout. At some times, it felt as though the 3D was a little too strong. There's a point in the movie where they pan up to view part of the cave and there's some very noticeable cross talk. But it's really just the odd instance. As for the movie itself....well, that's down to personal preference. Not normally my kind of movie but I enjoyed it, albeit I was a little freaked out at times. It would have a $15 max price tag for me, even with the decent 3D. It's currently $15.83 shipped from Amazon.co.uk, although shipping is combined if you buy more than one item. |

Watched Sanctum 3D last night. I know alot of people don't like this film but I don't mind it. Sure the acting could be a little better but it does the job.
The 3D was pretty good, it could have been a bit more immersive but still not bad. I did notice one or two strange reflections in the 15 second helicopter scene at the start of the movie. Other than that, decent movie with good 3D, a decent addition to the collection. Now if only they released The Descent in blu-ray with amazing 3D... ![]() |
