For me I haven't really bought a handheld because they are too expensive. Gone are the days when the GBA launched at $99. Now they are too much. Which I could deal with, if the games weren't nearly the price of console games. At least with remote play, it gives me more of an incentive. Which reminds me....
How limited is the NGP/Vita when it comes to remote play? Considering the PS3 is still more powerful, I'm curious.

Not at all. Remote play doesn't work like you think, the PS3 does all of the heavy lifting and your PSP is input device. Your PS3 will then send the video/audio output over the internet to your PSP. It only really works well for turn based games like Everybody's Golf etc... Anything with a high amount of action is too laggy.
Now if there was a way for Sony to hook a Vita directly into the PS3 via Wi-fi and the PS3 could then send instructions for Vita to decode and process with zero lag, then Sony would have a WiiU like experience by the end of 2011 vs H2 2012 for WiiU.
