Any Tarkovsky coming on Blu-ray? - Blu-ray Forum

I was wondering if anyone had heard anything about any films by Andrei Tarkovsky coming/out on Blu-ray anywhere in the world. My favorite is Offret (The Sacrifice) (1986).

I'm a huge Tarkovsky fan, but I would not expect much from Blu-ray reissues, and I don't expect them to happen anytime soon.

The quality of the german and british DVD releases has often been problematic (poor transfers, wrong aspect ratio). And even if the transfers were done perfectly, these are low budget films with limited picture quality and poor sound. Not really a priority for Blu-ray.

Tarkovsky is my holy grail of blu ray releases.

Unfortunately Tarkovsky has generally been given poor service on dvd and video. The Criterion DVD releases of Solaris and Ivan’s Childhood are the only ones worth owning at this time. These are excellent quality and would make fantastic blu ray releases.
Tarkovsky was a perfectionist; his films would be ideal for Blu Ray provided the source material still exists in a restorable shape.

I'd love to see a decent HD transfer for Stalker. Especially if they could fit the whole thing on one disc...

Dear People

To day in SPB I bought a blu-ray copy - according to the back cover the film is 175 min. long, is all region, no subtitles, 449 Rubles. Two versions?

They have made a HD-transfer of the movie in Sweden. Hopefully it will see the light of day soon.

Kino Int'l will release a 2-disc blu-ray package on July 5, 2011 for $27.97.
