Bill Hunt reported at The Digital Bits that Yates had the option to create a Directors cut and he declined... he considers this film done so I would not keep my hopes up for a directors cut...

And no offense--I'm not a Bill Hunt hater--but I call absolute bullshit. Yates is up to his eyebrows in post-production on DEATHLY HALLOWS 2 and surely has zero time to devote to a reconstruction of OOTP...but I'm positive he'd want to do one once he's been given a breather. This "no director's cut" thing was all just bad timing and poor planning.

could be, I'm just passing along what I read, it may be bull, but I'm not the one to say yes or no... I just know that Bill has had a pretty good track record with these kinds of things.

Right there with you. Yates has said he wishes he hadn't cut so much out of the movie. So I'm hoping eventually we see a full fledged extended cut. Director's cut or not, fans want to see extended versions of these movies. If they weren't going to keep that trend going, they shouldn't have put them on the first two ultimate editions.

If I remember correctly, there was a three hour cut, but he was forced to make changes.

Talking

this is the 1st iv'e heard of a 3 hr. cut! i wonder why he did cut so damn much than? now with say "The Lord of the rings" films that's bit more understandable"

since those movies were long enough as it was. but when it comes to "Harry Potter" that's a bit different. fans well most people can't stand the film version of "Order of the Phoenix" it's my favorite one. warts & all. my favorite book as well. i would LOVE to see them actually release cuts of all the harry potter films. with deleted scenes that haven't been released such as say for example

the "Rik Mayall" scenes that were cut from i think the 1st two films? but NOT included on ANY release so far! these studios are fakwing stupid! cause you know damn well that if ya release a version like that they'd make a shitload of money as well.

look how much they've made so far & prolly made on the releases of the extended cuts that they put out that were released separate apart from the "Ultimate Editions" or is this just me?

Cook and JLTucker are correct. Warner asked him to cut the movie down the bare essentials so he complied. Here's the quote about the run time:

Quote:
"The book's huge, but it actually distills quite easily... That said, I've shot a movie that's probably over three hours, so I'll have to lose 45 minutes in the edit."
I can't find the other article where he talks about putting it back in. But the film is all there. We're missing a HUGE chunk of the movie.

I have a link to a thread detailing what was shot and cut. I'll post it when I get a chance. Just to tease you I'll say there was a whole duel between sirius and bellatix that was filmed and cut. There is footage of it out there. I'll post that too unless someone beats me to it.

If not they could at least have put them in the additional scenes with the rest of them. Damn Yates you suck!

I think its more WB than yates. They don't want to give up the cow just yet. They will milk this franchise for all its worth. They have all kinds of material we haven't seen yet.

Here is one thread with details on what was cuhttp://harrypotterforum.com/discussi...cut-of-ootp/p1t: Alot of stuf was cut from the end. The brain room being one thing. More to come.

Exactly. It's not Yates, it's WB. They're the ones holding the footage and had him cut it out. They're waiting for the Ultimate Box Set i'm sure. We'll see extended versions eventually...Just not right away I'm guessing. Probably Christmas 2012.

That's too early.

They've got to finished the stripped down "Ultimate Editions" to complete the series/set they've started. Then they'll do a box set of all 8 of those.

Then a year after that they'll start releasing the Super-Ultimate editions, with the extended versions.
