We will have to wait until March for Sony's own press conference where they announce their fall/winter line-up, that is why we did not see too much at CES.

Here is a updated list of popular HDTV displays and players that accepts a 1080P/24 signal for those that are interested in that feature to completely avoid any 3:2 pulldown problems. Feel free to add to the link as this would be useful information for some people.
1. Sony SXRD 1080P home theater Front Projector VPL-VW50 (Projection Picture Size: 40" to 300" measured diagonally) 96HZ 2. Sony 70” LCD 1080P KDL-70XBR (scheduled release around Feb 28th) 120hz 3. Pioneer PRO-FHD1 1080P 50” Plasma 72HZ 4. Sony BDP-S1 BLU-RAY player 5. Pioneer BDP-HD1 BLU-RAY player 6. Mitsubishi HC5000 1080P LCD Front Projector (Projection Picture Size: 50" to 300" measured diagonally) 48HZ I am sure 2007 we will see many more 1080P/24 devices. The Mitsubishi HC5000 Front projector received a good review in Perfect Vision Feb 2007 issue. I still prefer the Sony VPL-VW50 which costs $500 more then MIT. Sony model has better contrast ratios and displays 24fps at 96HZ refresh rate. The MIT HC5000 refresh rate is 48HZ when watching 1080P/24 content. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 02-14-2007 at 09:30 PM. You can also include the following units from Pioneer:
Pioneer Pure Vision HD Plasma Displays PDP-507XG and PDP-427XG (7th gen Pioneer Plasma TV panel) http://www.pioneer.com.sg/storefront/brochure/7GPDP.pdf Take note though that these are only for Asia-Pacific, Middle East, Australia and New Zealand. So for you people over there in "Stateside" ![]() Here's the funny thing though: It CAN accept a 1080p/24fps signal but it CANNOT do 1080p at 50 and 60hz modes. In other words, this is not 100% FULL HD. :P |

Wow the entire line of 2007 Mitsubishi DLP sets will accept a 1080P/24 input. Also 4 of the LCD sets for 2007 accept a 1080P/24 input. Since DLP uses a spinning color wheel at around 120HZ there is no refresh rate issues to worry about. Now for the MIT LCD screens they are listed at only 60HZ refresh. For displays that have a refresh rate like LCD one needs the refresh rate of a 24HZ signal to be at 48, 72, 96, or 120HZ. Since the 4 MIT 1080P LCD screens convert the 24HZ to 60HZ this defeats the purpose of having a 24HZ input. Might as will have your BLU-RAY player convert the 1080P/24 source to 1080P/60 if the monitor is going only do 60HZ. Hopefully Sony’s entire 2007 line will support 24HZ input with refresh rates of 120HZ or 240HZ, will have to wait and see. 240HZ is too far in the future, I must be dreaming.

I love my Mits WD-57837. Was a pain in the *ss to get the color exactly right, but I found a few tricks to get it just about perfect.

Hello, everyone. I am in the market for a new television and would prefer a set that accepts 1080p/24 input, but I really don't need anything larger than a 42" or 46". Are any of you aware of any models in this size that will accept that input, or is there another resource of information you might be able to direct me to? Thanks in advance for any assistance you may be able to provide.

If you are looking for a display that accepts 1080P/24 input with a refresh rate of 48, 72, 96, or 120 then currently 50 inches is the smallest screen size. If you wait a year or two there will be a lot of new models with this feature on the market. Here are MIT models that are 37 inches and 46 inches that accept 1080P/24 with a incorrect refresh rate of 60HZ. IF 1080p/24fps support is a tech-based feature, then it can be said that ALL OLED TV sets (that are 1080p) will support all fps ranges (24/30/50/60).
Since OLED TV sets for HDTV will come in starting this year (or maybe in 2008), then I can assume the above.... |

Do the Sony SXRD rear projection TV's support 1080p/24 ??? Or are there more TV's out there that do? I can't afford the Pioneer Pro (though if I could, I'd jump on it... saw it in a video hifi store and WOW)... I'd look into the Mitsubishi TVs but I can't do DLP (I see the rainbow effect real bad)...

Personally if I was in the market for a high-end projector it would either be LCOS or a 3 chip DLP. None of the Sony or JVC rear projectors currently on the market support 1080P/24. The Pioneer Plasma is still around $5,000 delivered. By far the best display on the market with a 1080P/24 input is the Sony VPL-VW50. This SXRD Front projector is only around $3,500 for final delivered price over the Internet with a 1080P/24 input. It takes 24 fps and refreshes it at 96hz. The problem of course you need a dedicated dark theater room to project the 40” to 300” picture. This projector has a awesome 15:000:1 contrast ratio and looks better then Plasma. The only thing stopping me from buying one is I don’t have a dedicated home theater room yet. This technology use to be $33,000 a few years ago. This is by far the best deal out there. http://www.calibex.com/VPL_-_VW50-/zzcalibex2zB1z0--search-html There should be several new 1080P displays this year released with 1080P/24 support. A few years most likely every 1080P will have a 1080P/24 input. Last edited by HDTV1080P; 02-14-2007 at 08:34 PM. Reason: font issues |

I have removed the Runco XP-65DHD 65” Plasma from the list since the owners Manuel makes no reference to 1080P/24. Some times electronic news letters one receives on new models can have inaccurate information. I have emailed RUNCO to see if any of there displays currently have 1080P/24 support since none of their displays even the $250,000 3 chip DLP mentions that feature in the online manual. If I find out that RUNCO currently makes some displays that have 1080P/24 support I will update the list with the models.

THIS UPDATED LIST HAS BEEN MOVED TO THE VERY FIRST LINK. ITS HARD TO FIND ACCURATE INFORMATION SOMETIMES. Some times the manufactores don't even know the answer to questions when you ask them.

I have found some displays that do both 1080P/24 and some also do PAL and SECAM with 50/60HZ 110-240 Volts. The PAL feature is good for standard definition PAL DVD’s or future PAL BLU-RAY discs of old TV series so one can watch them in their original format without the conversion to the lower quality NTSC.
The list will be updated shortly mentioning which 1080P/24 displays also do PAL. |
