Default The Google Chrome Browser Thread of No Memory Leaks!

So I installed the latest beta of Chrome and it has extensions, which make it awesome.

Now I have blocked all Ads, Flash and use HTML5 instead of Flash for videos.

Also it is fast, really fast even compared to the latest FF beta 3.6b4, FF seems dog slow when I used it just now to compare. Also it is much more stable than FF. FF locks up on my netbook when I open a content heavy page and I have to wait for it to render before it unlocks, Chrome doesn't do that. Sweet.

Blocking ads and such was probably the main reason I've been using FF and not switching over to Chrome.

I'll have to consider crossing over now.

I've been using Chrome for a while now and really like it. The ad blocker is definitely the best part about it.

I recently installed 'The World' browser, which is supposed to be smaller, but it still uses the same amount of memory when using multiple tabs anyway.

Ive been using Chrome for almost a year and love it. Although recently ive started to play around with Iron. It uses Chromes code but they have stripped all of Google's tracking and data gathering from it. I just barely installed the beta of Chrome so I cant compare the two, but Iron is every bit as snappy as the regular Chrome.

I didn't know about that, might have to re-think using Chrome now.

I have Chrome, but I find that Firefox works great if you limit your add-ons. It's the shoddily-programmed add-ons that cause memory leaks, so you should only ever get a few and then disable the ones you aren't using.

AdThwart is nice. If you run into some compatibility issues where IE is required (I have several applications at work) the IE tab a nice way to sign off IE permanently. I run the Facebook and EBay extensions at home as well, but not at work.

AdThwart, Flashblocker are the big ones. After that just browse the list and see what you like.

Obviously there are a lot less extensions than FF, but it is still in beta, and they do seem better programmed than the vast majority of FF extensions.

I was talking with a developer from Myspace a while back, and he pointed out that the reason Google likes to keep things is beta pretty much forever is because it eases their liability in the event their software malfunctions. Like, if a beta app crashes and deletes all your associated data, well, "it was just a beta." I think that's pretty brilliant (and sketchy) of them, but I don't really mind, since Google's stuff is usually high-quality and free.

Major thread bump, but assuming this is the "official" Chrome thread I guess I'll post this here.

Chrome 13 is now available in the Beta channel. 2 major improvements:

1. Print preview using Chrome's built in PDF viewer, it's very slick (and dynamic!)
2. Google Instant taken one step further, as you type in your search it will begin loading the top result (I think) of the search in the background so by the time you click it, the site will pretty much be loaded and will display instantly.

Some of the smaller, less noticeable changes that I'm excited about are that you can now auto-hide the entire omnisearch bar. It's so clean looking!
Chrome 13 also supports multiple user profiles which is a huge thing for me. It's to the point now where I don't even have to bother with multiple Windows user accounts, just 1 generic one .

Spellchecker for what? Google searches? That's not really Chrome specific, but it seems to work pretty well for me.

Ah I thought you meant spellchecker as in the search engine suggestions (spelling or otherwise).

When I spell words wrong in this text box, they get the red underline and spelling suggestions when I right click. The link you posted shows reports of that not working in 2009 so my guess is it has been fixed sometime between 2009 and now.

EDIT: No auto-correct though unfortunately
