Sadly, Im not rich enough to buy rights to great classics like Dalapathi, Nayakan, Iruvar, Sethu, Paruthiveeran, Subramaniapuram, Naan Kaduval - The festival cut etc.... Tamil cinema is full of wonderful cinema which should be released on Blu-ray.
I'm trying my best to get Kandukondain Kandukondain onto blu-ray before the end of the year. |

Both 'Ko' and 'Kandukondain Kandukondain' will be first day buys for me when they eventually come out. Way to go Sunny - I wish the other companies releasing Bollywood blu-rays would also consult/employ someone of your caliber so that we consistently get great quality Hindi blu-rays too..

Naan Kadavul is one of the best Indian films I've seen, and it would have a fantastic visual texture on HD which will not be seen in many of the glossy commercial "family entertainment" films that are dominating the Indian BD market these days. |

I doubt Ayngaran will release this on Blu-ray now... Even if we had the rights I doubt Sun Pictures would give us the original DPX files, all the HD Behind The Scenes footage, the CGI workflow processes, and deleted scenes. Too much politics between Sun Pictures and Ayngaran. |

@Shahran, can you bring Kandukondain Kandukondain with the Telugu Audio Track, because for us Telugu People we got Kandukondain Kandukondain (In Telugu Priyuralu Pilichindi) with really bad quality, and lots of cuts to the movie, and many cuts on the film with spots everywhere?

Dubbing is old school and pointless. Performances don't come across well, and lip sych is very bad. |

I am disappointed there is no Telugu track. The dubbed version Rangam was a big hit in Andhra also and i rather watch the bluray than the dvd. I dont speak taamil so i was looking forward to the Bluray which will have the telugu dub version.

I wonder why Ayngaran fails to see the market gains they could have by just adding another audio track?? Unless ofcourse its against their contract? Its not like they havent done that before - examples: Eenadu BluRay, Bombay DVD. |

Sunny, it is NOT pointless and I agree with Kobebucsfan ALL THE WAYY!! +10000
Lots of American blurays include a foreign French AND SPanish audio track (if there's enough space, even lossless) and it helps the boost in sales..Similarly, a Telugu track will help in sales..Who cares if it is out of sync? The dubbed version Rangam was a bigger hit than other Telugu releases and that's because audiences liked it (I liked it so much I saw it four times)..Other than copyright issue, there is NO reason why they shouldnt include the track.. For an Indian company to start producing blurays isnt gonna make them up-to-date with Hollywood companies..They need to give us what customers want (in this case, an additional audio track). |

Hi Sunny, Will you please let me know, if the old films are re- released in Blu-ray Discs, will they have the same effects as of the new films actually shooted in high definition ?

@simplesam:
Old movies shot on 35mm film theoretically have very high resolution. Hollywood studios like Warner Bros make digital masters for some their "prestigious" older films at very high resolutions like 4k and now 8K, so as to capture all the details of the original negative. What matters is what condition the original negatives/prints are in, and how much effort and time is given to making a good digital master from them. |

No it won't. Majority of Old Indian films are badly damaged. They won't "pop" with sharpness the way new films do. A major restoration is needed - which won't happen as no-one in India wants to invest.
