I can't wait. I love Raiders. The other sequals are good too.

Didn't much care for the sequels but Raiders is about as fun as movies get.

The Last Crusade has ALWAYS been tampered with in every home video format, be it on VHS, Laser, DVD or TV broadcast. The scene where Donovan tries to tempt the Sultan with a treasure chest in return for vehicles and men contains the following line - 'Precious valuables, your highness. Donated by some of the finest Jewish families in Germany'. Except ever since the original theatrical release, the word 'Jewish' has been rendered inaudible on every print, leaving a rather noticeable pause. It'll be interesting to see if Spielberg has restored the line for the Blu-Ray release. Can't wait for this regardless.

I will either get this, and replace Doom with the overrated alien sequel, or just buy them separately.

I think the pricing of this 4-movie set may go like this:

Raiders of the Lost Ark: $69.00
Temple of Doom: Free w/purchase of Raiders
Last Crusade: Free w/purchase of Temple of Doom
Crystal Skull: Please take this off our hands, inventory is outta control.

Great news, thanks OP!

Actually, Lucasfilm was also a producing partner, so I bet he does have a big say in these films. Which explains why Star Wars is being released first.

If the decision was solely made by Paramount and Spielberg, then wouldn't they want this set to be released in time for Christmas? I would say Lucas didn't want both competing each other for the holidays, which would make a Spring release more plausible.

Since we're getting the Jurassic park series also this year, Indy is the biggest franchise set left to hit the format. So it'll make a big debut all by itself next year.

That's stupid. Anyone who isn't blind can see what is wrong with the lord of the rings transfer. Nitpicking is saying I don't like that scratch on frame 1276, the green tint is in a whole other ball park.

This is great news, I put Raiders in my Blu-ray player before Christmas and I wasn't impressed with the quality (a few people have mentioned the DVD transfers weren't the best) to the extent I turned it off and watched something else.

Hopefully the Blu-rays will kick all kinds of ass!

Thanks for letting us know. You don't happen to be old enough to have seen the original in 70mm 6-track? (I am and did.) I was wondering how it compared (to the best of your memory's ability.)

How did it sound? The original 6-track mag analog soundtrack had a sheen and smoothness to it that I never hear on digital soundtracks (although my ears aren't the same as they were then.)

The fact that this was shown last night indicates to me that the BDs should be coming soon, certainly this year.

I'll try and convey my feelings:

"Dr. Jones?"

"Yes."

"Dr. Jones, I will take the Blu-ray now."

"What Blu-ray?"

"You have the Blu-ray in your pocket?"

"You dote! Do you think my son would be that stupid? Bring my Blu-ray all the way back here? You didn't did you?...You did! I should have mailed it to the Marx brothers."

"Take it easy.

"Take it easy?! I mailed it to you so it wouldn't fall into their hands!"

"I came here to save you!"

"Oh yeah, well who's going to save the Blu-ray Junior?!"

Hopefully there's a Trilogy boxset with EVERY imaginable extra available including the ones from the seperate Laserdiscs, Complete Adventures and the more current DVD release. Of course I'm certainly hoping each film will be 2-Discs each i.e. KotCS. BD50 for each disc of course if all three look on par with MINORITY REPORT and Saving Private Ryan... Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm buying this anyway!
I was hoping this would be released this year as it's Raiders of the Lost Ark 30th Anniversary.
I really prefer this Lucasfilm series over Star Bores.
Oh and full disc label artwork would be nice again i.e. KotCS.

Perhaps I can finally retire the four DVD-Rs of Indiana Jones extras which were LD-to-DVD preservations. Paramount uses AVC, correct?

There were no extras on any of the laserdiscs.
