This is what I have at the closest one to me at the moment.
I wish Blockbuster was $5-$6 for 5 days, it's more like $9-$10 after tax.

Well, you live in California I see, so of course you were in a test area. Those in lower pop. states didn't have that luxury. But they also don't have $10 rentals apparently. I guess you have inflated prices. But I still maintain that any rental over 3 or 4 days, for
most people, would be better off at an actual store than Redbox. But if you're just trying it for a day, than yeah, it's a great service.

That is a good point, a lot have been shut down. We have one left, but it's on the other side of town. However we now have a family video which is about as good as it gets. We don't rent movie very often, but they are about $3-4 for a blu-ray for 5 days, which is half what Redbox would be for the same period. Last time I rented a game (admittedly, about May 2010) it was $5 for a week, which again is much cheaper. But this is my alternative, so this varies by location. I was in three Blockbusters this week and if I remember right, they were all $5 for a week's rental, but stock wasn't great either, save one location.

First off, these don't come with case/manual do they? So if you were to "keep" and buy the game, you would be paying $50 for just the disc, no? My point is on that subject matter is that I have yet to see a game in 2011 that didn't drop below $50 within 30 days. Now I may be wrong, but even Sony titles such as KZ3 and SOCOM 4 have dropped to $45. Noire is now $40, about 30 days later and Portal 2 got dirt cheap a couple weeks ago ($35 I think). Now, you could argue that you would have to wait to pay those prices, but it just comes down to if you're committed to saving money or playing the game irregardless.
Edit: I realize there may be some smaller, less-known games that don't drop that quickly, but I ask, if they are less popular, will they be in the Redbox machines?
Assuming they are just the disc, I believe Gamestop still takes in disc-only trades. I think even Best Buy started taking in disc-only trades recently too, but never tried it.
