Here that's not the case. Each single shot is tinted green and no official comment yet.

Plus, LOTR is a lot more popular...
I take it you've received an advance copy, then? You've viewed the entire film, and analyzed "each single shot" to make this determination?

And the reasoning wasn't clear at the time the Special Edition DVD of The Matrix was released. It's clear now, but not when the disc was first released, and certainly not a week before it was released.

These are just simplistic justifications for railing against one, while accepting the other, when they both amount to the same thing.

I haven't counted the screengrabs but since each single one shows the green tint one and several users confirm it one can safely make that assumption.

I can't say much about Matrix because I lost interest in those films after suffering through the second and didn't follow any discussions about this matter. But I guess the controversy was so much lower because there was no strong reason to double-dip and many people just kept the first version, never even knowing that things were changed until years later when BluRay entered the picture.

Here the change applies to the one version everyone has been waiting for, not some rehash that could be safely skipped.

(Oh, and BTW, I agree that the new color scheme of Matrix is awful but that's not what I'm trying to discuss.)

How is the disc change from Return of the King, have they choosen a good moment in the film? Because the EE from the DVD had bad moment. On disc two you cleary hear a sound, from the last scene.

Reg. the delay of the Swedish (scandinavian) release:
The distributor for these (SF Film) have announced that the release date is changed to july 12. Official press release later today. Hopefully a better explanation than 'production delays'...

So we're back where we started:

- The green tint is present in the image, as the screenshots show
- some people see it on their TV, others are not
- some people who see it are bothered by it, others are not
- no reliable info about what happened.

I'll wait things out. Buying now would be stupid.

It was every bit as revisionist as what's been done to Fellowship, but there was never this level of ranting about it.

What if it turns out Jackson is trying to match Fellowship to his intended look for The Hobbit? Is it then acceptable to change the timing, or is it only acceptable if it's done to match a film to sequels, not prequels?
"The Matrix" is an edgy Sci-Fi film. "Fellowship" is a pastoral fantasy. Green tint could conceivably add to the experience, particularly when used selectively to differentiate the "matrix" scenes from the day-to-day scenes. NO such justification can possibly be found for making the Shire a sickening green, and certainly none for greenifying the entire film.

If Jackson were trying to make the look match The Hobbit...
A) He would have done it for the entire trilogy.
B) He's lost his eyesight (or his marbles), because that means he's making The Hobbit green TOO.

So... very unlikely, IMHO.

What kind of bothers me about all this is that people are believing internet rumor over the professionals that say it is not a big deal. I will believe Mr. Harris and Mr. Hunt until I see it for myself. I also completely understand and agree with the digital grading. I remember before any of these movies came out seeing a "true color" preview and thinking that this will not look like a fantasy world at all. I was very glad to be proved wrong.

Default Scandinavian delay official - press release later today

It's official - the Danish version of the EE blurays will be delayed by two weeks. The new release date is July 12th.

SF-Film (the scandinavian distributor) is going to release a statement later today explaining the delay.

So guys - we might have an explanation in a few hours.

Back soon.

That's why I use the "Classic Style" skin which gives you a neutral ~90% diffuse white background

Maybe they say what the reason for the production delay is...?

If they have to do a remaster for the color issue, yes that's also a production delay so that term by itself means nothing, except that they aren't able to ship the product on the intended date.

Since all of this is subjective, I don't care if someone, be it a Robert Harris or some random forum dude, tells me that it isn't a big deal. Since the green tint has been proven to exist that doesn't help me at all, knowing my personal experience with badly color timed films in the past. This is something that pulls me out of a film like nothing else.

So, unless I can get a disc where white is guaranteed to be white (meaning that no color channel is significantly stronger than the others) I won't pay any money for it.

I have the set and the transfers are fine (u.s release), the green tint problem isnt at all as bad as i thought, so i dont think the cause of the delay is because they are getting remastered.

I wonder if there is a chance in the world PJ has fine-tuned the ROTK EE.

You could really tell he was busy with King Kong when ROTK EE was being put together. Something about the editing feels unresolved, and the new visual effects shots look a little cheesy.

For me, ROTK is the only film in the trilogy where the theatrical cut is clearly better.

Strange, for me this is the one where the theatrical cut is close to worthless in relation to the extended version...

Come on... If they postpone the release at this point because the discs need to be remastered, then the delay wouldn't have been a mere two weeks. Let's not get people's hopes up here.

Hmm, interesting.

Here's my take:

- It is a terrible decision to show Aragorn taking the ships. It waters down the tension, because we know Aragorn is on his way to save the day. And then it spoils the surprise when Aragorn jumps off the ship leading the army of the dead.

- The drinking game is unwatchable. A lot of the Gimli nonsense in TTT was pretty annoying, but this scene was the worst.

- The Eoywyn/Merry conversation ruins the sense of urgency. Just totally wrong for the pacing.

- Gandalf looks pathetic fighting the lord of the Nazgul.

- PJ explained very well why the Mouth of Sauron is redundant.

...off the top of my head. Fortunately, PJ didn't touch the best section of the entire trilogy: The final 40 minutes.
