Yes, it has been verified with dB meters.
A lot of the members at AVS are hard core.

holy crap they are hardcore. im running my panny via hdmi to a integra dtr-7.8 (hdmi 1.3) and i am bitstreaming everything so am i correct buy saying that i will not have any problem with lfe because i am bitstreaming everything

The problem is with PCM mastered discs, no other audio formats (DD, TrueHD, DTS, etc.). Since PCM is already decoded bitstreaming has no effect on the problem.

While you may not obviously hear the problem it IS there, and has nothing to do with what receiver one uses. I have a Onkyo 905, but Denon and Yamaha users also report the same problem.

Radio Shack SPL meters should be standard equipment for any HT so you can properly set the levels for your speakers. It's not just for hard core AVS people. Properly setting speaker levels is fundamental to good sound.

That being said, there's no easy way to *properly* compensate for the low LFE problem in a receiver. If you boost your sub or bass levels, you also boost the re-directed bass from the main channels. This results in OVER compensated bass for some frequencies and the "right" levels for others. So the only proper fix is for Panny to issue a firmware update.
