Anybody remember when I said I thought Torchwood should have its own thread?

I knew someone would start another one after that old thread was closed...

Yeah I kept saying after Torchwood airs I'm going to come on and see a Torchwood thread and sure enough there it was. most of the Torchwood conversation is still going on in the Who thread though compared to this one. Just like before though as I think this is the 3rd attempt at a Torchwood thread and they either die early or the conversation never leaves the DW thread and they end up getting merged.

Not saying this thread is pointless or anything and don't want to sound like a jerk just saying most of the Torchwood talk is in the DW thread and I suspect that's where most of it will be for those that want to talk/discuss it.

I am trying to do my part and keep the meat and potatoes to the Doctor Who thread... in terms of discussing plot points on last night's airing.

Maybe this one will get merged back into the fold at some point.

Miracle Day is my first Torchwood experience. I have absolutely no knowledge prior, so I was a bit confused and I guess I still am. Without having the background on the characters I'm left to make quick judgments, I don't particularly care too much right now for the whinny father or his wife aka the woman in need of some serious adult braces and extensive dental work. Jack seems alright, but he didn't do to much and I'd assume from the photos the hot blond agent found and his comments that he is either immortal or an alien? Can anybody clear that up for me? I also found Mehki as he has been known to do, over acting quite a few times particularly his plane rides where he tries to sell that he's in pain. It was just too cartoonish for me. I like the idea of Pullman playing such a very different character, but him being released due to "an act of god" highly annoyed me. I'm sure as the season progresses I'll grow to like some of the characters more but without any prior knowledge I was mostly just lost.

Yeah I didn't find the premier to be as inviting to new fans as was promised by RTD and if I hadn't seen the past 3 seasons I know I would have been lost to a little .
[Show spoiler]Jack is/was immortal though which happened in Doctor Who and in this season while every human gains immortal life he looses his. He's also a time agent from the future but don't think that will play heavily in this season but he is a human and not an alien.

Yeah I was hoping this was a show that newcomers could jump right into but as it stands, they make you feel like if you didn't watch the other series then you're shit out of luck. I had kept hearing you didn't need to watch the others to start watching now, but I was lied to apparently...

Is a time agent like a time cop, like Van Damme?

Yeah that's what they kept saying while advertising/press releases but like you said I would have been very confused without having seen the first 3 seasons. I mean new viewers would have completely missed the whole Jack subplot and why Gwen and Rhys are in hiding.

Not sure what a time cop is as I never saw that movie but a time agent is like a cop that deals with time travel I believe. Never actually saw the first season of the Doctor Who reboot so I'm not to sure actually.

I just started watching this too. I didn't even know there were 3 seasons! I thought this was a new series.

Kinda don't feel like watching it anymore. I hate jumping in the middle of a TV show.

I would highly recommend the first 3 seasons as this is an amazing show IMO in terms of sci-fi and drama.

Another great episode. I enjoyed it very much. I'm enjoying Miracle Day so far. So I hope it continues to be this good all the way to the end.

I agree with Detective, watch the first three seasons. They're great. Friday's episode gave me little faith that this was going to become easier for new fans to understand. I really am enjoying the series though. Hope new fans are too.
