But yeah, next year they will be releasing OOP and HBP on 3D Blu-ray so I'd expect an even more "Ultimate" version of those two (with hopefully an extended cut on OOP, at least)

But there should be the extended cuts for all films, and even if the scenes don't really work still include them as bonus features for God's sake! There are so many scenes that have never been seen or released as 'Deleted Scenes'

It'll probably be 7 with small titles with Part I and Part II on it. They'll probably be out by next April.
I expect now that the final film is out, we will begin to hear more about Ultimate Editions for the UK.

I hope every film gets an extended version. I'm ready to see these amazing films padded out and expanded with as many scenes as possible. Order Of The Phoenix in particular, there's no reason for WB not to do this as there is a massive fan demand for Extended Cuts.

I don't think that's going to happen. The UK will get the same releases as the US when the UEs are released.

3D versions of OOTP and HBP?! When were these announced?

I don't understand why they haven't released any UE's in the UK yet . I'm so confused as to whether I should start importing, or wait. I don't see why they'd only release the UE's in the UK slowly from now on. By the time they've got to the last one the US would potentially have had them for YEARS. So they could start re-releasing them in the US but then they'd have to include other stuff to make them seem better, so confusing. haha.

Wouldn't be surprised if they also converted the first 4 (and finished/released dh part 1). Though would have thought that in 10 years (hopefully for them) 3d wouldn't be dead & they could rerelease in cinemas (like they are re releasing star wars). Would have thought this may have been a better move. We'll see I guess.

Yeah, I think I read David Heyman said somewhere in an interview that he regretted the first film couldn't come out in 3D for the release date but that the 3D suits Part 2 better, but then he also said that they still plan on releasing Part 1 in 3D on Home Video in the future.

And of course, they're bound to release 1-4 (and then 7) Would be a bit weird if only 5, 6 and 8 were out in 3D!

I hope they release the really ultimate boxed set soon which I know they will but not just a repackaging of the UE's we have. But I think it will be released after DH 2 is released. Gonna get my fingers crossed on the extended editions too, probably like the LotR ones or if not possible, a little less than that.

EDIT: 3D would be good too. Considering the fact that I'm not much of a fan of 3D in home media, but they should release others as well to keep up the consistency. I agree, I would be weird if 5, 6 and 7.2 were the only ones in 3D. lol

I agree regarding the 3D. I definitely felt the image was blurry at times and the 3D really didn't add to the experience in my opinion.

I think it was blurry in the 2D version of it as I haven't seen the 3D yet (though I saw the 2D twice already ). Some sort of clear focus on the subject, like a macro mode in video (is that possible? lol)

I think they filmed respectively for a 2D version, and they only converted it to 3D. I think it's called '3D post-conversion', I don't know lol.

it was a great movie although it departed from the book more noticably than it's predecessor.

Well, speaking for myself, they can keep all the .05 cent crap (trading cards, booklets, oversized boxes) and instead deliver actual extended cuts of Azkaban, Goblet, Phoenix, and Prince.

Oh, and a version of Deathly Hallows with that deleted scene where Harry, Ron, and Hermione discuss what the known destroyed Horcruxes are, and how many are possibly left. Call me crazy, but it's usually a good thing in a movie when an audience is actually told what the stakes are. Why they cut that scene is beyond me.

I quite agree. They need to explain it in the movies rather than depending our knowledge on the books. They need to consider that some people watch those movies but never actually read the books.

i actually wish they would put the scene with the song In Noctem back into hbp. it's the extended scene right before the astronomy tower sequence. the song really sets the mood. no clue on earth why they cut it.

Yup. I still think the worst offender is Azkaban...the movie keeps bringing up Harry's permission slip, then doesn't include the scene where that storyline is resolved. If you're not going to resolve it, why waste money shooting it? Or explain Harry's patronus, or explain that the makers of the Marauders Map were shape shifters, or include the full prophecy from Order of the Phoenix, or explain why a certain someone is called the Half-Blood "Prince", and on and on it goes. The movies make people who've read the books a bit nutty, but I don't know how people who have NOT read the books plow through the films.

Just asking, because I haven't seen Part Two yet...do they explain why Harry is suddenly carrying around a piece of broken glass for some inexplicable reason?

I think they never explained it in the movies.
[Show spoiler]In Pt. 2, they revealed who has the other piece of mirror and why he has it.
But they didn't explain why he has that mirror.

[Show spoiler]they explained the mirror as aberforth on the other side helping them out. hermione noticed it because she saw harry on the wall. i, who had read the books, assumed it was part of the two sided mirror from sirius. which i guess it was. there were no goats. time for a nerd rage. they cut out pretty much all of dumbledore's back story. probably trying to be pc with the gay thing. the battle at the end was the biggest change. harry and voldemort were alone and battled in the courtyard. when voldemort died his ashes just blew away and they cut the monologue about redemption and all of that. they also killed goyle and lavender. i don't remember lavender dying in the book. it was weird how there was no reaction to voldemort dying.

spoileriffic.... curious thing to keep in your sock.
