Yep. Pretty much. And it's one of the only shows that already has a full season pick up. Not sure it'll get far now.

TV networks and movie studios are like selfish small children -- they don't want something but they don't want anyone else to have it either.

lol at people liking the story, author, and two main actors, but one supporting actress kills all love for the project.

Jamie Foxx completely killed all my love for Djanjo Unchained and I love every single other cast member and the writer/director. So it's nothing new for me.

Something about her just bothers me and she nearly kills everything for me when she's in it. I think the only time I liked her was in Christmas Vacation, and she was passable at best in that.

Oh I'm not really a fan of hers either. There's a few films here and there that I liked and thought she was decent in (Strange Days mainly) but she's definitely kind of off the wall batshit crazy.

But I don't recall ever hearing of a movie or tv show that I liked 90% of it, but one casting made me just say "**** it, I'm out".

I mean I REALLY despise Cuba Gooding Jr., although that's more of a situation of thinking "how far can someone fall after getting an Oscar?" than anything else, but I never read about American Gangster and was like "Okay, this has Denzel, Idris Elba, Russell Crowe, Sam Weiss and a slew of other awesome actors, but it's got Cuba in it so **** that!"

As I said I REALLY don't like Lewis because she weirds me out. But dismissing a project that you admittedly were stoked about, because of ONE casting is a bit weird for me.

I mean, I get that it's weird, and understandably it might be. But she just bothers me that much. I have a hard time watching her. The only way it would work for me is she is in an incredibly minimal amount...

I would assume this would be a perfect role for her. She's playing the wife of a criminal f*ck up. I mean, if ever there were a role tailor made for her (aside from the incredible casting of her in Natural Born Killers) it would be this. lol

Would've liked to see Kyle Chandler get the lead, but I like Josh Lucas.

Keith Callum Rennie is a great choice for Ray.

As for Juliette Lewis, this type of role basically suits her.

At least she wasn't cast as the wife Abby.

Molly Parker ('Deadwood,' 'Swingtown') Joins Cast of NBC's New Legal Drama 'The Firm'

Quote:
Molly PARKER (‘DEADWOOD,’ ‘SWINGTOWN’) TO JOIN NBC’S NEW LEGAL DRAMA ‘THE FIRM,’ BASED ON THE FEATURE FILM AND BESTSELLER BY WORLD-RENOWNED NOVELIST JOHN GRISHAM FROM EONE

PARKER JOINS PREVIOUSLY ANNOUNCED CAST OF JOSH LUCAS, JULIETTE LEWIS AND CALLUM KEITH RENNIE

Production Starts in Toronto in August

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif./TORONTO – July 29, 2011 – NBC, Entertainment One (eOne), Sony Pictures Television Networks and Global Television announced today that Molly Parker (“Deadwood,” “Swingtown”) has signed to star as Abby McDeere in the network’s new legal drama series “The Firm,” based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel and executive-produced by Grisham and Lukas Reiter.

Ten years ago, Abby helped her husband Mitchell McDeere (Josh Lucas, “The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Sweet Home Alabama”) bring down a Memphis law firm that was a front for the Chicago mob. Her life was never the same. Abby’s a true partner to Mitch — a smart, resourceful woman who after a tumultuous decade is excited to start a new life in Washington, D.C., as a school teacher.

Parker joins a previously announced cast including Lucas as attorney Mitchell McDeere (the role originated by Tom Cruise in the film); Juliette Lewis (“Natural Born Killers,” “Cape Fear”) as Tammy, Mitch’s feisty, sexy receptionist; and Callum Keith Rennie (“The Killing,” “Californication”) as Ray McDeere, Mitch’s charming yet volatile older brother whose work as an investigator in Mitch’s office is uniquely informed by his past stretch in prison for manslaughter. Despite a “highly un-ambitious” nature that stands in stark contrast to his Harvard-grad brother, Ray shares one key quality with Mitch: a loyalty that is unbreakable.

I'm a fan of Molly and loved her on Deadwood. I'd been hoping they would have found a way to work her into Boardwalk Empire in some capacity even in dreams, since she was seen as the photo of Nucky's dead wife. But guess this means she'll be done with the show.

Count me in. I liked the Firm starring Tom Cruise so I am going to check this out tonight. Hopefully it turns out to be as good as they have been hyping it.

I liked it, has loads of potential

The trailer NBC was using fooled me into thinking this was political thriller

I agree, I liked it quite a bit and think it has potential. Unfortunately the show's premiere ratings were abysmal...Hope it picks up.

Just watched the first episode on Demand, and I absolutely love it. I loved reading The Firm, and this serious has a lot of great potential.
