$20 a piece at WM. Seems pretty pricy for catalog titles.

Are any of you actually going to buy Conan the Destroyer?
Absolutely. CTD is one of the most underrated movie sequels of all time. Aside from Malak and the violence being toned down (although its still damn violent for a PG film), I don't get all the hate for Destroyer.

If I were to watch Destroyer again it would be to count how many times the princess says 'bombatta!'
Well I am not joking, I like the movie, but LMAO! she does say "Bombatta" an awful lot.

Well there is Grace Jones, the Toth Amon Monkey fight (swinging Conan by the feet), Mako's character being ruined, the cheaper budget, Basil score while good is very cheesy in parts and you can tell he has even less people in his orchestra then he did in the first film (just an overall let down with the score since the first films score is so great), and like you already said MALAK!!

I just never liked the tone of the film. I don't mind that they cut down the sex and violence for the kids but the bad humour that is in this film is frustrating. The First Conan felt like a real world. All the money spent on the film is there on screen. It's played very seriously. CTD ruins all of that. It feels much like many of the other bad S&S films that were being made at the time.

I still may buy it. But I will put it in a two disc case with Conan so I don't have to take up room on my shelves for it.

Dino DeLaurentiis produced them and didn't want to pay for stereo. I think John Milius even begged him to put the first movie in stereo but he wouldn't. The price we pay for them basically being independent productions made outside the studio system at the time.

That being said, I think both 5.1 DTS-MA mixes are perfectly fine under the circumstances.

Yep, they have the most extras and the extended cut of Conan the Barbarian. I got both for $50 shipped and I feel that the extra $5 a piece is worth it.

The U.S. Theatrical runs at 126 minutes and is available only on a discontinued DVD and I think one can buy The U.S. version from VUDU. The International Theatrical runs at 129 minutes,(U.S. BD apparently) with a slightly altered ending from from the U.S. The Extended International Cut runs at 130 minutes with an added 1 minute scene(Imported BD and the current U.S. DVD).

Hope that helps and isn't too confusing.
I assume the discontinued DVD with the TC is this one: http://www.amazon.com/Conan-Barbaria...2264547&sr=1-7

and the "current" DVD is the CE, also included in this, which I own: http://www.amazon.com/Conan-Complete...2264590&sr=1-1

So, if I buy the US BD and the HK BD (with Destroyer) I have both of the longer cuts? Is anyone here championing the TC cut or is it just EC vs. EIC?

Judging by the selection of audio choices and subtitles on each of them I'd say the disc content is 100% identical.

That looks right, though the product listing is wrong as the first DVD edition of "The Barbarian" came out in 1998, a month before its sequel was released on DVD. Both Non-Anamorphic widescreen. Obviously a third-party seller offering the first film

Yes. Post-2000, all DVD editions of the first film as been the EIC

Okay, the HK BD of "Barbarian" is the same EIC that is on the current US DVD editions, such "The Complete Quest" with the Conan and Subotai's pre-battle talk that's been dubbed "The Moby Dick" scene. The US BD is apparently the IC version without said Moby Dick scene, but with the Princess Ending. So, the HK BD has the longer version compared to the US BD, the second film is the same cut with only Special Features separating the US BD and the HK BD. There has been some vocal output concerning the US TC not being released on the forum.
I hope my statements have been clear, though not necessarily concise.

The 126 minute cut has no Moby Dick scene and no carrying the princess off at the ending. It also has slightly different editing for a few seconds before the fight at the burial mounds and a much more powerful ending (sceen cuts to an image of the snake logo with pounding music)...

So please....

What are the differences between the 126 min cut (discontinued DVD) and
the 129 min International Cut (US Blu-ray)

It can't just be the princess at the end of the movie--that couldn't add up to 3 minutes.

Thanks again folks.

Yes a few of us are championing the US TC. I think however most here have never seen the US TC.

Does anyone realize you can order the 2-pack from Amazon France for $35 shipped? It's the same two discs.

That's where I've ordered mine from.

Not sure about anything, but the French discs appear to be exactly the same as the Hong Kong/Dutch/UK versions - so if they're region free presumably the French ones are.

Then again, Fox might make discs with exactly the same content but include region coding in certain territories only.... I just don't know.

I've ordered the French set, but I have a multi-region player so I don't need to worry about coding anyway.

So, basically, EVERY conuntry in the world that is releasing this movie...EXCEPT UNI-US is the same thing.
I would love to sit in on one of Universal blu-ray catalog release meetings...that's assuming they even have meetings. For the life of me, I can't possibly fathom what their "powers that be" think over there!!

Can anyone with the Hong Kong/China version confirm if the horse falling down to the wooden spikes scene is there?
