BD has like what 8-9 hours of hd? Im sure they can fit every version easily, or pull a blade runner and give me multiple copies.

so the HK's are all region then?
No, BD's can hold close to 3 hours of HD before they start looking too compressed.

Don't order from HK. It's far cheaper to order from Amazon France, you can get the 2-pack for $35 shipped. Same discs.

But be warned, it'll upset that bloke a few pages back who doesn't like France.

And, seriously, the French 2-pack isn't out for a couple of weeks if you're in a hurry.

The HK editions has all English cover art though, contrary to the French ones. I'd rather pay the few extra bucks not to have Conan Le Barbare & Conan Le Destructeur on my shelf, but that's just me.

Another good reason, but the best one is because the French don't deserve the money.

Has anyone actually confirmed the bonus features being the same and if the French version is actually region free? If I can't watch my bonus features then what's the point?

+1
I've never been able to play extras when I buy imported films. Amelie-AUS, JCVD-UK, Bourne Trilogy-UK are a few that I own.

Oddly enough, Milius' Conan is in fact more related to Shakespeare's Hamlet than the source material.

Having the Princess present at the end of the film ruins what would essentially be the final arch to the lead character. Conan has just exacted revenge on his life long enemy and soul purpose for existing. I believe he has a right to some post homicidal "me time". Having the princess there is an intrusion on that moment. Had the film's tone had been as schlocky as the sequel Destroyer everyone including his dead girl friend's ghost could have been there to cheer Conan on in his victory. But no, its a serious and mature personal moment that gives the film and its lead character its weight and depth. Its something that many naysayer's and even hardcore fans seem to not understand.

my 2 cents

Perfectly stated. I agree 100%

However I watched it again last night and my biggest issue is the music being off and not fitting with the scene like it did for the original version. The music is SO important to this film. I can handle all the princess stuff/ignore it but the score drives me nuts.

Oh well I sure do love the first hour and and fifty nine min.

So which version do you have?

DISCLAIMER. From now one everyone should post the version of the movie they have watched so we know the difference.

Can anyone who has the U.S. discs for Barbarian and/or Destroyer post the exact running times? I need them to finish my custom covers for these.

I need the time read off the discs, as I don't trust what's on the back covers to be accurate. Too many conflicting/confusing reports.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

OK, I got my HK copies of Barbarian & Destroyer, both play just fine on US players(we already knew that) and ALL extras play as well, just so you know.

I just read in the IMDB forum that there is an audio issue on both the Universal and the Fox Blu-rays. Apparently they have screwed up the soundtrack.
Can anybody confirm this?

It's the same 5.1 track that's been available for years overseas in any Fox DVD release. Yes, it does seem to either dial down or eliminate the choir altogether in certain sequences, for whatever reason, though it's not completely missing from the opening raid (just one section of it).

Here you go Nissen,

Conan The Barbarian HK 2 hours 10 mins 30 sec.

Conan The Destroyer HK 1 hour 41 mins 15 sec.

Conan The Barbarian US 2 hours 9 mins 7 sec.

Conan The Destroyer US 1 hour 41 mins 9 sec.

I put each BD in myself and looked.

So, Does anyone know which version is supposed to have the best video quality or are they all encoded the same? I actually have not had time to watch both so I thought I would ask

Thanks
