But the "explanation" doesn't hold water and just reeks of retconning.
That Anakin would appear just has Luke saw him but healthy instead of burnt/ missing limbs is the redemption, the return to the light side. Him appearing like he was in his 20s is ... idiotic. At this rate, Obi Wan should appear as Ewan McGregor and Yoda should look much younger as well, everyone appearing as they were at their "peak" as Ghosts. |

Depends on the mythology. But usually most folklore referring to ghosts allow them to manifest however they want.
Yoda: "Luminous Beings Are We, Not This Crude Matter". So Anakin should clearly be restricted in Ghost Form by what shape his body was in when he died. That's why he's scarred all over, missing his hair and eyebrows, and also missing limbs. That's also why he appears in Darth Vader's armor when he shows up as a ghost. Wait.... |

Obi-Wan and Yoda were always meant to turn to the dark side. It's part of George's back story that he wrote to flesh out the prequels. These scenes will appear in the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy: Special Edition to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Phantom Menace.

Allow me to enter lucas' thoughts. Perhaps his intention was for anikan to be how he remembered himself to be. Last edited by Petyr_Baelish; 08-09-2011 at 08:14 PM. |

![]() Honestly, this is one of those debates where I think both sides have perfectly valid points. It just comes down to personal preference. I would much rather have Sebastian Shaw show up as Anakin's ghost, because Luke never saw young Anakin, but I can go either way. I still think Hayden's ghost looks decent next to Yoda & Obi-Wan (he doesn't stick out like a sore thumb to me). |
