Wow, it's still so expensive to produce. The US get's a really good deal compared to other nations. I guess we're lucky that a lot is produced here which reduces import and shipping costs.
The 40GB model still causes them to lose money? I wonder what the management team has ahead for the PS3 to make up for the lack of profit. I'm glad that the PS3 is getting more popular now. It was definately too advanced for the masses when it was first released but no it's just right. I hate how the Wii seems like a toy rather than a current-generation 2008 console. |

I know it may be too early to expect this, but hopefully Sony will have some room for future price cuts.
This fall and winter the PS3 really took off after the additional price cuts. Then there are all those PS2 gamers out there that would like to jump in but haven't yet. |

50% of the original $900 or so for the cost of production still put's it at a loss per unit sold, albeit a MUCH smaller loss. But still good new that they are able to dramatically reduce the cost in just over a year.

Very good point, I didn't think about that. Blu Ray's move into the standard format for HD here on out will make Sony a lot of money. Hopefully Sony will stop neglecting the PS3 now. I got the console nearly five months ago but I only have one game (Uncharted). I love that game a lot but there was a lack of selection for awhile.
