I'll try and look for that thread if I get a chance. Also worth noting the Director's Cut version on the US (AVC) has a slightly better transfer than the Unrated (VC-1). Last edited by Bad Sandwich; 08-16-2011 at 08:19 PM. |

Time Bandits
Ger - better transfer; AVC; most extras; DTS MA 5.1 24bit; B locked (best) UK - better transfer; AVC; less extras; lossy DD 5.1/PCM 2.0 24bit; B locked US/Ca - crappy-ish transfer; AVC; least extras; DTS MA 5.1 24bit Withnail and I UK - Higher video bitrate; most extras; PCM 2.0 24bit/DTS MA 5.1 24bit; region free Australia - same as UK but less extras, region free US/Ca - lower video bitrate; bare bones; PCM 2.0 16bit Last edited by Bad Sandwich; 08-17-2011 at 12:56 AM. |

These two seem like ties?
Le Cercle Rouge Studio Canal (UK/FR/GER) - more accurate "bluer" color scheme; excellent transfer; AVC; DTS MA 2.0 16bit; B locked Criterion - also excellent transfer; AVC; PCM 1.0 24bit Different worthwhile extras on both Three Days of the Condor Studio Canal (AUS/FR/GER/Scandinavia) - VC-1; DTS MA 5.1 16bit; extras; region A + B US/Ca - AVC (higher bitrate); Dolby TrueHD 5.1 24bit; bare bones Last edited by Bad Sandwich; 08-17-2011 at 01:32 AM. |

This thread rocks! Thanks for that. It's really useful.
I had no idea that the German BD of Apocalypse Now had a better transfer. Fortunately, I haven't bought the film on BD yet, so it looks like an import for me. ![]() The Zulu PQ comparison appears to link to the Texas Chain Saw Massacre (which made me chuckle). ![]() Last edited by Jeff B; 08-17-2011 at 06:01 PM. |

NOTICE
The TERMINATOR 2 Blu-ray in DK - which also covers the whole scandinavia has all 3 cut of the film on the disc the sound is dts-hd ma 6,1 Actually the only T2 release in DK was the skynet edition - it is on a BD-50 Casino Royale Deluxe - scandianavian release seems to be combined to CEE release and is the r-rated cut (full version - no cuts) |
