I commisioned this custom blu-ray cover for the upcoming release of TERROR IN THE AISLES on Blu-Ray. TERROR IN THE AISLES is an extra on the HALLOWEEN II Blu-Ray, not sure if it will be on it's own disc or on the same disc as HALLOWEEN II but the price is low enough to justify buying 2 copies of HALLOWEEN II just to give TERROR IN THE AISLES it's own case:

Seriously, quite a few of us actually really dig these Bond covers and dvdmike is being kind enough to provide links to his covers for anyone to download if they wish. If you don't like something, fine, but if your intent is to just rip someones stuff apart, say its crap, and not offer any solutions then maybe you should just keep your ideas to yourself. At least offer some sort of constructive criticism on it, why it doesn't work and offer a solution to fix it or what you think would work better. If its not your thing, then just leave it alone. Allow those that actually enjoy it to enjoy it.
It's really sad to see such thing happens in a friendly forum. So many custom covers here are so awesome. People, please do not stop posting your creative covers, whether good or bad.

Mike, please come back, not just for your 007 covers, plus your many other future covers too.

How is listing what I think doesn't work not constructive? It's being specific. I can't think of any alternative elements for his covers because I think he needs to change everything, they need to be totally redone and reapproached IMO. I shouldn't need to have his ideas for him, just give him some input on what I think doesn't work.
What's wrong with that? What has the world come to when I can't point out things in design that don't quite work? It's still a friendly thread, I don't see how critiquing something has to be deemed so taboo and unfriendly here. It's all said with the intention of bettering the designer (by pointing out things that don't work. I mean suggestions can be helpful to but my point was that I would need to make a suggestion for an entirely different design because I don't think any part of his works). That's not unhelpful at all.

Sometimes I don't get you guys. Criticism, while maybe seeming harsh, is only done with good intent and is still a friendly discussion.

How come there's a screenshot from The Thing in the corner? And I think some of those other screenshots are from different films too. Don't you think that's a bit misleading?

For the record, I didn't want him to leave. Nor did I want him to stop making covers. I like some of his earlier covers. I just wanted to point out that these certain covers do not work in my opinion. That is all. There's no need to vilify me. I very much enjoy getting told what doesn't work in my designs. I almost always change the stuff I make entirely based on other peoples input and I always end up with a much better looking, and different product.

It's a documentary about horror films.

Well, it's supposed to be that way... Terror in the Aisles is like a big giant trailer for many classic horror movies.

Maybe because it was a film about "Horror Films" scariest moments? It was not exclusive to Halloween. I saw that film on cable way way way back in the day.

I doubt dvdmike will return to this thread, which is a shame. But can anyone blame him after the disgraceful treatment he received from Rusty100.

I agree with you threefiftyrocket, I liked the Bond Blu-ray covers that Mike was putting together. Sure, there were some issues but they were his creative vision and he was kind enough to provide them to us for download. It's just a shame that some people here on blu-ray.com have to tear people down.

Personally I'd rather Rusty had just kept his opinions to himself and allowed those of us who were enjoying the covers to continue to enjoy them.

Also the cover is not yet complete thats why I "stamped" it, once I get the actual specs for the film they will be added to the back of the cover and I will be happy to share it with anyone who wants it.

I wish people would make customer covers for those boring ass Criterion Collection covers. Then again crap movies deserve crap covers.

Which sucks, because I really liked looking at dvdmike's stuff, especially of late. The Bond covers and the Star Wars stuff were all just awesome... PLEASE COME BACK DVDMIKE!!!

There's also a difference, of course, between offering up a cover here and offering it up for critiquing; this isn't a WIP-critiques thread really, is it? Unless someone asks for feedback?
People have posted many WIP on this thread.

Yeah, and even if they do, its not common for people to say "Your sh*t sucks, start over" usually its hey you ever thought about tryin this? Or what about this? Or why did you do that the way that you did, because I see it more of this way.

In that case, you give the artist an opportunity to explain why he saw it the way he did, instead of saying jeez, if people are going to b*tch when I make something and let them have it for free if they want it, then I just wont offer anything anymore.

Come on people, this is an open thread for all to comment, whether its good or bad comments. As Imrahil2001 said, we never created this thread to be a WIP place, but has more so become that. Everyone has an opinion and everyone has a right to express it here, be it a good or bad review. If you have the creativity to post a "WIP" then be ready for feedback. If you can't take the feed back then don't post your work. Just like the blu-ray reviews that can cut down some flicks, but if they are bad, then the review says so, EVEN if its one of your favorite movies or you don't agree with the review. Just take it for what it is, and keep going, because if one individual can make you give up on your work, you need to rethink why your even making covers. Rusty100 has always had the balls to speak his mind in this thread, and has gotten him flack too in the past, but many times people sit at their computer and say "He is so right" or "I totally disagree". And he's posted many covers he's created so he's not just a lurker or a troll, he knows what it takes to make a cover. Sometimes harsh or vain criticism can make you go back and create something even more amazing, but it shouldn't be the deciding factor if YOU like what your creating. This topic of "being nice on critiquing" is out of control and needs to get back to the reason this thread was created. Sorry if this all sounds harsh, but I don't watch and participate in this thread for this kind of stuff to take up pages and pages. Time to move on everyone and get back to making covers.

Constructive criticism is fine.

Remind me not to post any of my custom covers on here.

Please listen to this guy. But if mike wants to stop posting because of one negative but friendly post, then that's his business. I think it's kind of strange and childish that somebody would just leave because of that but whatever. get back to making and posting stuff this discussion has taken up too much of the thread already.
